Resident Evil 6 is known for its significant length, taking place across four interwoven scenarios. It's also light on the survival horror, and heavy on the action. This was the last mainline game in the series with third-person gameplay before moving to first-person gameplay with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
Regional Differences#
Just like most previous games in the series, Resident Evil 6 has a few instances of censorship in the Japanese version.
Camera Changes#
During the Prelude (the game's tutorial), when Leon uses a knife to stab the zombie that's attacking him, the camera angles were changed to obscure the violence and simply focused on Leon before the zombie dies.
During Leon & Helena's Campaign in Chapter 4, you can try killing a Rasklapanje enemy by putting it in a grinder.
- In the international version, the camera goes behind Leon or Helena while also showing the Rasklapanje getting grinded.
- In the Japanese version, the camera instead goes in front of Leon or Helena while also obscuring the violence again.
Death Changes#
The Japanese version also censors some character deaths.
- In Jake & Sherry's Campaign in Chapter 2, during the cave section when getting killed by Ustanak, the death animation is shortened and goes directly to the "YOU ARE DEAD" screen after a second of the animation.
- In Ada's Campaign in Chapter 3, when fighting a chainsaw enemy, one of the deaths was also shortened and goes directly to the "YOU ARE DEAD" screen after a second of the animation.
