Kid Klown in Night Mayor World is an action-platformer by Kemco. It stars Kid Klown who must save his family from the evil Night Mayor (get it?). Like Kemco's other action games, the game is quite mediocre, but some look back at the game fondly. Due to its late release date on the NES, the game is highly sought after by collectors.
The game was originally released in Japan as a Mickey Mouse game where Mickey must... get this... enter Minnie's dreams to wake her up from a nightmare. While a US localization of the Mickey Mouse version was made, it was never released, and only exists as a prototype. This was most likely due to Capcom being the rights holder for Disney properties on the NES at the time.
Both games virtually play identical with each other, with only some graphic and music changes being the only significant differences between the two.

Since Capcom held an exclusive license for Disney games outside of Japan at the time the game was released, the game was rebranded as a Kid Klown game when it was brought to the US. Several enemies also had their designs changed to fit the theme of each game. The endings to both games are quite different as well. Mickey gets an animated cutscene while Kid Klown is left with some still images and text boxes.

The story was changed thanks to the re-branding, leading to this and every other cutscene from the game being modified to reflect the new story. Also note the text borders were changed and expanded slightly.

Staff Roll#
The Japanese version and US version have some differences. The US prototype uses the same exact staff roll from the Japanese version.
- A.YOSHINO was added to the US version as a demo programmer.
- T.SUNAHORI, a graphic artist, had their name removed from the US version.
- A MAP ASSISTANT credit for E.OTSUKA was removed from the US version.
- The STORY credit for S.HIRAHARA was removed from the US version.
- The US version adds these two credits screens in its place: CORRESPONDENCE DIR.: H.HASHIMURA and CORRESPONDANT: R.SHIROISHI.
- The two DEBUGGER AND ADVISER credits screens were removed from the US version, and instead replaced with two credit screens for SPECIAL THANKS TO STAFF OF KEMCO AMERICA.
Music#
As a result of the game becoming Kid Klown in the US, the following songs were changed when localized:
- Title Screen (Mickey Mouse Club March)
- Level Select (It's A Small World After All)
- Cutscene themes
- Ending Theme
The same sound composers are listed in the game's credits, but Hiroyuki Masuno may have done the localization's music, as they sound like more of his style.
