Yo-kai Watch 2

Unused Graphics#

Cutscene Placeholders#

Inside yw2_a.fa/data/menu/ev_pic/ev_pic1210.xa can be found a duplicated of ev_pic0210.xa with a lot of debug graphics on top of it

Minimap Placeholders#

Both t121d05 (Corresponding to San Fantastico) and t201i05 (Corresponding to Old Springdale) have placeholder minimaps, these are just a simple flat color with (仮) written on them.

Medals#

A medal icon for the Yo-kai Directator. He only appears in a few side quests and cannot be befriended. (unless if you can debug the game)

YW2_flicker_medal.png YW2_loiter_medal.png YW2_schemer_medal.png

Medal icons for the 3 Wicked Yo-kaiː Flicker, Loiter and Schemer, likely intended for the Medallium.

Portraits#

Portrait of an NPC that was completely scrapped, doesn't even have a 3D model. Her ID is c363000, and coincidentally in the models folder this ID is skipped jumping from c362000 to c364000.

Considering the design and position of her ID, she was probably intended to appear at Belly Buster Curry, but in the final game she was replaced by a generic NPC.

Unused Areas#

t121d05#

To do:
Get a screenshot of the unused train station map.

YW2_t121d05_1.png YW2_t121d05_2.png

A small unfinished river area that was likely going to appear somewhere in San Fantastico.

t106d11#

In Yo-kai Watch, there is an area called Rugged Path, primarily used for side quests. However, in Yo-kai Watch 2, this area was replaced by Jumbo Slider. Despite that, Rugged Path still exists in all versions of the game with working models, collision and a functionable purple Treasure Box.

Interestingly, exiting the area takes the player to Breezy Hills but with poorly-set coordinates, causing the player to fall out of bounds and back into the area's default position.

Unused Sounds#

tr0058.dspadpcm#

To do:
Is this in the Japanese and Korean version?

Gargaros warning the player to not change the 3DS' System Clock. While the sequence does appear in the game, no voice clips play. Interestingly, it was translated into every language in the European version.

Hidden Details#

Manga Book#

The manga book cover (ei100690_01) used in a cutscene is a heavily downscaled graphic of Inazuma Eleven: Tanjou Monogatari, a Manga Biogrophy based on Akihiro Hino, the CEO of Level-5.

Oddities#

Flashback Image Oddities#

To do:
Take comparison images in YW1. Also the flashback images are different in Japanese but still have the same poly count...should it still be covered?

The flashback images are slightly different from what actually appears in the previous installment; many of the models have a higher poly count!
