Development Oversights#

Butler Whisper Medal Error#

The Butler Whisper Yo-kai Medal (that comes with the transforming Whisper toy) in the app shows him holding a glass of wine as if he's drunk. This was obviously changed to him doing a thumbs up gesture in the merchandise but the original design remains in the app and wasn't even changed in an update.

Awevil and Greesel Medals Error#

The Awevil and Greesel Yo-kai Medals (in Series 1 and Series 3 respectively) in the app show them with their original artwork, with the kanji kyou (凶, "bad luck") written on their foreheads. This was exclusively changed in Hasbro merchandise to blank out their foreheads, as well as change Awevil's skin tone to a much lighter shade of gray, but the original design remains in the app and wasn't even changed in an update. The original designs were also displayed at New York Toy Fair in 2016.

Other Pre-Release Medals#

The following Yo-kai Medals drawn or altered by Hasbro in the merchandise have earlier designs remaining in the app, and weren't even changed in an update. Differences include background color, size and position of art, and slight tweaks to the art itself.

Japanese Text on Heartful Tribe#

The artwork for Rollen has the Japanese onomatopoeia for rolling (ごろん) on it which isn't present in western artwork of the Yo-kai.

Japanese Names on Background Graphics#

The background for a Wobblewok-themed spa uses his Japanese name Dondoro (どんどろ).

The background texture for a Gutsy Bones-themed rollercoaster has the word "Gasha" on it, short for his Japanese name Gasha-dokuro (ガシャ髑髏).

Texture Oddities#

Early Camera Textures#

There are two Yo-kai Medals that have camera detection textures inconsistent with their released versions.

Jibanyan's New York Comic Con 2015 medal features a differently-shaped skyscraper with Gargaros peeking out from it. "Yokai Watch" is also not hyphenated as it should be.

Shrunken Extra Medal Texture#

An extra texture for Whisper's medal included with the Yo-kai Pad carrying case toy, using its finalized design, is in the app's data unused. It is much smaller than a usual texture. The one used in the app's Wiki section is an earlier design.

Yo-kai Watch Land Island#

There's a lot of darkened detail on the map that can be hard to see in the never-finished areas on the map graphic, such as "Oni Island".
