Character Portraits#

In Fortissimo, character portraits are not layered. This means the game must store a separate image file for every combination of character, body pose, clothing, facial expression, and size. In the original Fortissimo//Akkord:Bsusvier release, the game includes every possible variant for each character—resulting in over 6,000 unused portraits! Some body types and facial expressions were never used or carried over to later versions. Most of these unused images were removed in Fortissimo EXA//Akkord:Bsusvier. Due to the large number of images, only unique ones will be showcased. The full list can be found in the Notes subpage.

Yoshino Reiji

In the beach scenes, Ryuichi is the only male character shown wearing a swimsuit. However, unused portraits of Reiji in a swimsuit also exist.

Amamiya Ayane

There are a few unused facial expressions for Ayane in her Walkure form, because her hat obscures her face. Additionally, there is an unused body type of her facing left, and another with her arms raised—both still wearing the hat.

Arizuka Jin

There are two unused body poses wearing casual clothes and three unused facial expressions.

Sanada Keisuke Sanada is always shown wearing glasses, but unused versions of his regular portraits without glasses exist. Furthermore, none of the small size portrait variants are used in-game, which hides small details—such as the playing cards.

Himeshiro Kuri

Despite not having her own H-scene in EXS, there are hidden nude portraits of Kuri —similar to those of Momiji and Sayuki— suggesting she was originally intended to have some sort of scene during early development.

These battle background variants also go unused. The only exception is the generic ff_efcg_59 backgrounds, which are original rather than variants, but they weren't used either.

Menus#

The Scene Replay menu contains unused sidebars that are not visible during normal gameplay. Despite being unused, they were updated in EXS and later translated in the localized versions of FA.
