Unused Superstars#

Michael Cole & Earl Hebner#

While Michael Cole and Earl Hebner both appear in the game to some degree, there is evidence that both were originally playable. Both have leftover selection portraits:

Both can also be made playable via modifications:

To do:
The video also features the 4 create a moveset characters and the create a taunt character, these should also be documented as unused superstars as data also exists for them to be playable.

Christian w/ Glasses#

🎵 YOU'LL SEEEEEEE IF YOU JUST WEAR YOUR GLASSEEEEESSSSSSS 🎵

CH.PAC/0162.PAC is an unused entrance model for Christian, where he enters while wearing his glasses. Strangely, Edge does not have an equivalent model.

Unused Textures#

Old Title Screen#

EDIT.PAC/EDME/LOG4.bpe is an older version of the title screen image. This was used in earlier builds of the game.

Kenny#

EDIT.PAC/EDME/KENY.bpe is... Kenny from South Park?

Unused Entrances#

Shorter Steve Austin Entrance#

Watch on YouTube

Entrance ID 4E is a shorter (by about 6 seconds) entrance for Steve Austin. In the shorter version, he only climbs two corners of the ring, as opposed to all four of them.

Generic Entrance#

To do:
Make sure whether or not this is actually used.

Watch on YouTube

Entrance ID 19 is what seems to be a generic entrance, with no announcement or name card, perhaps used as a placeholder.

Placeholder Entrance#

Entrance ID 4E is a placeholder entrance, with no wrestler or name card present, and no announcement made. The camera remains in the ring, following where the wrestler would be, entering through the ropes facing the ramp.

Duplicate Entrances#

  • Entrance ID 34 is a duplicate of Albert's entrance (ID 20) without any announcement or name card.
  • Entrance ID 3C is a duplicate of Ivory's entrance (ID 3B).

Unused Match Types#

To do:
There are several dialogue references to a Casket Match. Could this mode be restored, somehow?

A number of unused match types can be set by using the code 002F1BE0 000000??.

Hardcore Time Limit Title#

24 is the Hardcore Time Limit Title match from the previous game, with the addition of the crown indicator for the current reigning champion; the player who pins, submits, or knocks out the player with crown indicator would be designated the interim champion; this process continues until a decisive winner is decided when time runs out. This mode was not used in this game as titles can only be won or lost in Story Mode, but would return in WWE SmackDown!: Shut Your Mouth, with the crown indicator system and the gameplay no longer tied to the Hardcore Championship.

Lumberjack#

Match ID 3B is a Lumberjack match. Two main players wrestle, while the other wrestlers surround the ring attempting to attack or pull the active wrestlers out of the ring.

There is a corresponding menu selection voice clip:

Oddities#

Commentary#

The commentary as a whole can be taken as one huge oddity of this game, but there are some specific quirks to the quips.

Angle Lock#

The name of Kurt Angle's finisher is the subject of some fan debate. While the move is officially named the "Ankle Lock", the games - including this one - along with many fans have taken to calling it the Angle Lock, likely to maintain consistency with his other finisher, the Angle Slam.

Only Tazz has commentary clips separately calling both the Angle Lock, and the Ankle Lock (called Anklelock, in Create a Superstar), which is a separate move in the game.
