Unused Objects#

These exists an unused state for the fire extinguisher in the Entrance Hall where it is both damaged and marked for maintenance, as seen in this screenshot on the left extinguisher. It appears to be less damaged than its usual damaged state, shown in this screenshot on the right.

Unused Music#

h4lluC!n4t!0n -M4ss!vE n0!zE-#

A louder version of the track "h4lluC!n4t!0n". This track was even given a name found among the BGM gallery names, though it does not appear there or play anywhere in game. It does not appear on the official soundtrack (though an uncompressed and unfiltered arrangement called "h4lluC!n4t!0n (Asia Arrange)" does).

bgm7160#

This one is here on a technicality. This track is intended for use with cutscene CUT_01_0020, the cutscene on Day 1 of 1st Scenario where the school shutters all the windows and deploys the defensive barrier for the first time. The game does not play this track...because the music is already baked into the cutscene. Another track is playing over it when encountered in the story, and while it can be heard more clearly in the Gallery, it cannot be heard on its own because the game considers it to be a sound effect. Even turning down every volume but SFX does not play it clearly; the cutscene has additional sound effects. The isolated BGM version of the track goes unused by the game. This seems to be the only cutscene with this distinction.

Unused Video#

Two unused hemoanima transformation scenes exist in the files. CUT_20_0300 features only Takumi, Hiruko, and Nozomi, while CUT_20_0505 features Takumi, Hiruko, Tsubasa, Nozomi, and Kyoshika. These were likely intended for the battles on Day 99 and 93, respectively, on the Meet With Hiruko branch of the Serial Killer side of the Slasher Route (Chapter 14_A_ab-093/Chapter 14_A_ab-099). However, no scene plays for those battles. These cutscenes have associated sound effect and music tracks, but no VO track.

Misc. Unused Bits and Oddities#

Story Events#

  • The event at the beginning of the Day 63 battle on the Eat Fish branch of the Comedy Route (s14_b_comedyrt_b0_d063_m070_010) has a txt event_pic_list file that does not match the actual event's contents. The txt event_pic_list files are a list of characters and portraits presumably used by the game to load portrait sprite files in advance. For events that take place during battle, the Lua function RadioImageLoad is used in the script to load portraits for displaying in the comms bubbles. This event uses exclusively that method of displaying portraits, and thus a txt event_pic_list file is not necessary for the event at all. (Some events that exclusively use comms bubbles contain a matching txt event_pic_list file for some unknown reason.) In addition, this file refers to a portrait for Kako that does not exist, ID 2620. There is no image for this portrait in the image data, nor is it defined in the list of Kako portraits in field_pic_setting.
  • The map files for the ruined overpass map where you find Sirei's remains in 1st Scenario (RUIN_TOWN, r2002) contain position data for NPC variation 10, unused by the game. (NPC variations are used by the game to position NPCs in maps differently for various events. Setting the Variation ID affects all NPCs, though any without specific position data for that variation in the current room will fall back to default positions that are not visible on screen.) This variation contains position data for Takumi, Nozomi, and unknown NPC with ID 401, which might refer to the leap-suit-wearing attacker on the Slasher Route, as that ID is used during the sneaking sections (and nowhere else). The intended use for this is unknown, but possibly during the Slasher Route.
  • The event where Shouma is chained up in the Parking Lot on Day 92 of the Side With Hiruko branch of the Box of Calamity Route (s09_B_occultRt_Aa_d092_m070_010) uses NPC variation 2, which does not exist for the Parking Lot room. This event only displays CGs and does not actually show the room itself; if it did, no one would be visible despite characters being set to be inside the room.
  • The encounters with Zombie Kako and Zombie Moko on Day 79 of the S.F. Route (s13_a_sfsfsfsf_aa_d079_m050_010 and s13_a_sfsfsfsf_aa_d079_m050_015, respectively) use NPC variation 1749, which does not exist at all. This does not seem to affect the event at all, possibly due to potentially being done while the game is both in a hallway and in sneaking mode, thus characters have already been manually positioned.

Free Time#

  • The event_npc_set_talk data files set NPC dialogue for the various Free Time days on each route. There are entries for every day, as well as dummy entries for Day 0 and (for route segments that have no Free Time days) Day 1 that aren't actually used due to the way the game seems to read the files, which can be gleaned from some discrepancies that exist.
    • The 2nd Scenario route contains an entry for Day 22, but Day 22 does not have a Free Time period. Day 23 uses this instead, since 22 was the last entry. The next one is Day 28, which exceeds Day 23. The same is true for Day 64 actually being intended for Day 65.
    • The Rebellion Route has no entry for Day 97, instead using the entry for Day 96.
    • The Coming-of-Age Route contains dummy entries for Day 37 (which has a forced Exploration instead) and Day 57.
      • It also has an entry for Day 64, which is a Free Time day, but talking to everyone plays unique special dialogue. The entry has all five available students (Tsubasa, Gaku, Nozomi, Kurara, and Moko) set to 07_01, the set of "inspired and ready" dialogue.
    • Some of the above cases are technically partially used when intended if Eito and/or Eva are locked in their respective Courtyard cages, as they can be talked to during certain periods outside of Free Time. Those conversations use the same tables.
  • The game disables certain Free Time events that mention other characters when said characters are currently dead or not available in the current story route. However, some possibilities were missed.
    • On Day 26 of the Mystery Route (Chapter 15_B-026), Kurara can have an event in the Metal Shop where she has been recently offended by Gaku, despite him currently being dead. (In fact, the two have never interacted on that particular route at all.)
    • One of Eva's Free Time events, the one in the War Room, mentions Nigou. On the Retsnom and Comedy Routes (and a few other routes where she does not get the chance to have Free Time events), she never gets the opportunity to meet Nigou, yet this event can still play. Version 1.2.0 patched this out for the Retsnom route, but it can still occur on the Comedy Route.
    • On a related note, the events in the Parking Lot are not disabled when the bus is not there during Days 5 and 6 of 2nd Scenario (Chapter 00_0_a-005/006), despite all three events (Takemaru, Tsabasa, and Kako) involving the bus.
  • Eva is not eligible for Free Time events at all on the S.F. Route. The reason for this may be because of the stronger brainwashing she receives on that route, but that suggests that Bond Events need to be disabled for her, not Free Time Events. Since she can still receive gifts on this route, she can still activate Bond Events.

Gifts and Bond Events#

  • The data file field_present contains a FieldPresentReactionType lookup table for every character's response to being given each gift. There are three extra columns for recipients. Going by the internal character numbering, these would likely correspond to Shion, Sirei, and Nigou in that order. The lookup table lists all three's reaction to every gift as 2, which is neutral. These three cannot receive gifts in the final game, though there are unused voice lines intended for use when giving Shion gifts.
    • The FieldPresentReactionType table also contains several dummy entries, though aside from two of them it is unknown what these were intended to be as these unused gifts do not exist in other tables. Most of them are set to be neutral gifts for everyone, although two of them, IDs 21607 and 21608, are both set to be disliked by Kurara, Kyoshika, Yugamu, and Moko, and hated by Kako, Shouma, and Nozomi.
  • The event_info table in the event_info_other data file contains data for some scenarios that do not exist.
    • It defines a_chr events, which are used for gift reactions, for Shion, Sirei, and Nigou. Again, these three cannot receive gifts in the final game.
    • It defines k_chr events, which are used for Bond Events, for Sirei and Nigou. These two do not have Bond Events in the final game.
    • Darumi, Kyoshika, Kurara, and Eva have a sixth Bond Event defined, likely intended to be used in the same manner as the other sixth Bond Events (during 2nd Scenario, after Day 73). These four do not have a sixth Bond Event in the final game due to being dead during that time. (Sirei and Nigou also have a sixth entry defined.)
  • The FieldKizunaRank table, used to handle unlocking Bond Events, also has an entry for a special sixth Bond Event for Eva, though not the other three and none for Sirei and Nigou.
  • Bond Events will not trigger for Eva on Days 43-45 of 2nd Scenario, while she is undergoing re-brainwashing (though that doesn't actually start until Day 44). However, she is not eligible for Free Time or receiving presents while being brainwashed in the infirmary anyway.

Explorations#

  • SugorokuEventSelect and SugorokuEventSelectEffective actually allow for three results and three effects to be associated with exploration event choices and exploration event results respectively, but these third slots are never used.
  • The exploration on Day 6 of 1st Scenario uses a slightly limited pool of events, but only for scripted spaces placed in the direct paths going east between the school and the goal. There are some oddities with this.
    • The blue Mineral space placed a short distance south of the goal space uses the pool for blue Machine spaces instead.
    • Certain changes to the pool are made that are impossible to see in gameplay, whether due to certain space types not being manually placed or characters other than Takemaru and Darumi (the only available party members) being required.

  • There are two Shouma-related exploration events that are unable to be seen in-game due to not being set as available correctly.
    • The first event is not associated with any space type at all.
    • The second event is only associated with purple Machine spaces in the 1st Scenario Day 6 limited pool. This is impossible to see for two reasons. The first is that no scripted purple Machine spaces are manually placed during that story exploration. The second is that Shouma in not available to take on explorations on that day (he isn't even in your party for several more weeks); only Takemaru and Darumi are available.

Misc.#

  • The interactable computer in the War Room (the one on the right side of the room) is set to be broken starting on Day 8 of the 1st Scenario route (Chapter 0), and remains that way until the power goes out after Day 95. There is no stated in-story reason for this (one can come up with theories, but none of them are even remotely conclusive), nor is it being broken ever mentioned outside of interacting with it. It also does not prevent a Free Time event with Hiruko involving that computer from occurring. This only occurs on 1st Scenario.
  • Many battles check the battle's appropriate skip flag upon starting to see if the game can display the tutorial related to skipping battles similar to those the player has already cleared. A few 2nd Scenario battles check the wrong flags, none of which ever get set, meaning while those battles can be skipped, they can never display the tutorial. (Note that the tutorial only appears once on a save file anyway, so the chances of this being noticeable is incredibly slim, and potentially impossible for some of these.)
    • The main Chapter 00_0_a-015 fight checks flag 4617, but that battle uses flag 4603.
    • The unwinnable Chapter 00_0_a-015 fight checks flag 4618, but that battle uses flag 4604.
    • The Chapter 00_0_a-021 fight checks flag 4619, but that battle uses flag 4605.
    • The Chapter 00_0_a-057 fight checks flag 4620, but that battle uses flag 4967.
    • The Chapter 00_1-063 fight checks flag 4621, but that battle uses flag 4610.
