The game's camera uses what's internally referred to as a "railcam" system to position itself around the various 3D room environments. While the camera itself, during events, moves and turns as if on rails between various points, there are no actual rails, only the various stopping points. (These are not the only positions the camera can be located, as it will move itself to point at various characters as they are talking, and the camera's last railcam position affects the angles of these positions.) Not all the positions defined in the rooms' 3D environment data end up being used. Due to the camera movement outside of story segments being quite limited, these camera angles can reveal or focus on things that otherwise go unseen or unnoticed.
