Special Tee Shot

Special Tee Shot is a neat little gem: it's what Kirby's Dream Course was originally going to be, featuring an almost entirely different set of gimmicks and overall more challenging courses.

The game came very close to receiving a North American release in 1992, making an appearance at that year's Consumer Electronics Show and even getting an official box design. These plans were scrapped during the transition into Dream Course, and the original game wouldn't be released until late in the Super Famicom's lifespan as a Satellaview exclusive.

Unlock All Courses#

When starting a game, after the title screen fades out, the game checks how many save game slots are currently in use. If all five slots are taken up, the game checks what buttons are being held as the member select screen fades in.

If all five save games exist and L + R are being held on both controllers, the first save will have all eight normal and Extra courses unlocked, with a gold ranking on every course except for Beginner. If any D-Pad direction is also being held on Controller 1, the Gold course will also be unlocked.

Debug Flags#

By setting some debug flags at the very beginning of the ROM, various development-related features can be used. Use any of the following Pro Action Replay (PAR) codes:

  • 808000FF: Causes both players in a 2P game to be controlled using Controller 1. Also allows you to hold Select to temporarily freeze the game.
  • 808002FF: Shortens the delay before the main menu automatically appears at the title screen.

A third debug flag exists at address 808004, but is not used.
