Droites (Thomson TO)

Droites teaches students geometrical lines of various kinds. It was bundled alongside several other educational programs teaching geometry.

Commented-Out Lines#

The TO9/TO8/TO9+ disk version from the Logiciels Nathan Ecoles : Mathématiques compilation has a set of commented-out lines in DROITES.BAS, which are not present in any of the tape releases, including the one for the MO series. They are as follows:

• Line 2 is a credit to programmer Jacques Sanvoisin:

• Lines 2500 and 2600 contain some annotations regarding some of the variables:

• Line 7951 contains a commented key check for Insert and ↵ Return. The line that the program would be redirected to upon pressing the former key is a light pen/key test, while pressing the latter goes to another commented function labeled INSTIT. Uncommenting both produces no visible effect.

• Line 22100 is part of the parallel lines observation routine, and would display a box close to the bottom part of the screen. However, there's no visible effect upon re-enabling this line.

• Line 36050 is part of the subgame selection screen, and would display the text "Donne ton choix:" (Enter your choice:).

• Lines 36800 and 36810 contains a light pen test for the menu. Line 36900, to which the code later redirects to, only contains a RETURN instruction.

• Lines 47000 to 47030 are part of the gameplay screen code, and would display buttons to quit the game (RAZ) and to reset the points.
