A pretty faithful PC port based off the Sega Saturn version (give or take some content missing from that and other ports). This version itself is port of Puzzle Bobble 2 / Bust-A-Move Again with content from the updated version, Puzzle Bobble 2X; it was released exclusively in the Western Hemisphere, and it's one of very few versions containing Puzzle Bobble 2X (titled Bust-A-Move 2X here) content outside of Japan, as well as the only version not to be released there despite the original 2X being Japanese-exclusive.
Not to be confused with the PC port for Windows, which was titled Puzzle Bobble 2 even in the US, featuring the same content from Puzzle Bobble 2X as well; it was developed by a completely different developer and released in Japan.
Unused Graphics#
Unused Alternate Title Screen#

|
The title screen used is actually same as the main menu dark background in the Saturn version, there are actually original colors of title screen (not same as the Saturn version) inside data but went unused, however they can merely be seen in one of opening intros, these graphics are stored at BAM00000.DAT.
End-of-Demo Screen Leftover#
The End-of-Demo screen is actually leftover and different than its Demo release, since this is final game, it should go without saying why this is unused.
VS Mode Ending Cutscene#
The ending cutscene after clearing VS mode is present inside the game's data, showing Bub and Drunk on the ground and night sky background graphics are separated, but still unused as it goes to credits screen with fireworks in the background then 2 screens (first is Bub doodle, second is Bubby sleeping in the light) that were taken from Puzzle Bobble 2X.
This is the mockup of what VS mode ending cutscene should look like, suggesting this was going to be carried over this version before the background with fireworks.
Unused Background tiles#
These background tiles present inside the game's data but unused, as the game mode selection screen and high score name entry use same purple tiles background.
Title Logo Leftover#
Separate title logo leftovers from the Saturn version, the one in the unused alternate title screen or used in one of opening intros actually has darker colors, the Bust-A-Move 2X title logo itself is unused in the Saturn version.
Winning/Losing Sprites#
The animations of characters when they are winning or losing the game are used in others versions, but not in this version, although the sprites still exist inside data, likely due to limitations.
Bub's sprites when losing the game. |
Unused Audio#
Some of audio clips are unused, for example, the audio clips for Bob exist, but unused since audio clips for Bob are recycled from Bub.
