  • NA version has different lines at some country intro FMV's and the text of it seen in the race info screen.
  • JP version lacks the the option to toggle between KPH and MPH.
  • US version has some words changed to their American English counterparts:

Analogue

  • The Japanese release was only partially localized. All things, except country intro FMV's, remain in English and language can't be changed in settings. The aforementioned videos have Japanese hardsubs, while the audio remains in English (including Nicky Grist co-driver).

Watch on YouTube

  • Whilst the original European PlayStation release had McRae's co-driver Nicky Grist lend his own voice for the game's pace notes, this was replaced by NASCAR driver Ned Jarrett in the North American version. The game's speed is about 12% slower in the NA release. The Japanese release also features Nicky Grist as the co-driver, but runs at the same speed as the North American version.

Revisional Differences#

Cars#

  • Later European re-releases use different textures for Lancia Integrale rims in Arcade mode (except time trial).

Rev 1-2

  • In addition, the Japanese and European re-releases replaced the censored 555 livery on the Subaru Impreza (as driven by McRae in 1998) with a new livery featuring the logos of Spike and Sammy, who published the CMR series in Japan. This livery is also seen on the Game Boy Advance version of CMR2.0, which ironically didn't see a Japanese release. The Spike version of the Impreza was driven by Toshihiro "Toshi" Arai in some races of the 2000 WRC season.

What letters trigger this issue?

  • Aside from the Subaru Impreza changes mentioned above, PAL revisions have partly compatible save files, outside v1.2 failing to load drivers created with certain 3 letters combinations ("PSX" being one of them) using v1.0 and v1.1 and vice versa - which are also shown as "Corrupted Data" when looking at them through PS2 and its Browser in the case of v1.0 and v1.1.
