Atomic Punk (Game Boy)

This is indeed a Bomberman game, just with a different title. It even has a special mode based on the NES game! It's also the first Bomberman game to have a battle mode (called "VS.MODE")!

Sound Test#

In the normal game mode (GAME A or BOMBER BOY), at the STAGE SELECT screen, enter the MY TOWN location with Right + Select + B + A held. Note, that when you press Right a map selection is changing, so you need either to put it to the left of the MY TOWN before holding all the buttons, or press Right until you stand on the right one position and hold it there, and then hold the rest of the buttons.

Regional Differences#

In the Japanese version, the mode based on the NES game appropriately changes the title screen to Bomberman.

Like Bomberman II, the US and European versions remove vowels from the passwords for both game modes. The Japanese version's Bomber Boy mode contains all the letters of the alphabet except I and V, while the other versions' Game A omits the remaining vowels—including Y—and adds V and some punctuation to make up the difference. The punctuation marks are appended to the end, making converting passwords between versions require substituting characters in the same positions on the grid.

US/Europe

The Japanese version's Bomber Man mode uses the 16 letters A–P for password characters; the other versions' Game B replaces A, E, I, and O with 0, 1, 2, and 3 respectively.
