Bomberman II

The popular multiplayer mode makes it to the NES. And the people rejoiced.

Bit Reversal#

This game's samples are corrupted by the 2A03's bit reversal bug. For more information, click here.

Unused Graphic#

Kondoria, a regular enemy from the first NES Bomberman, as well as a battle mode obstacle from the first TurboGrafx-16 game is nowhere to be found in this game.

Regional Differences#

Title Screen#

Japan

North America

Europe

The trademark info was updated in the North American game, and a trademark symbol was added. The European version is titled Dynablaster, the name used for all European Bomberman releases up until Super Bomberman, as the original title was associated with terrorist bombings (at the time).

Cutscenes#

Japan

International

The cross on the church was removed.

Passwords#

Japan

International

As evidenced above, the password format is different between the Japanese and international revisions. The international releases omits all vowels, an odd bit of censorship(?) that can be seen in other games. Though the symbols changed, the actual password values are identical. A=1, H=8, I=B, etc.

Sound Test#

Japan

North America

Europe

Spaces were removed between Bomber and Man, and Man and 2. The European game remembers to update the game title.
