Test NPCs

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

These NPCs were mostly used to test various functions of the game. Some were also made just because developers needed fodder enemies in their test map. The majority of these test NPCs have clear purposes, but there are some that don't. They are listed here by their ID or internal name, rather than their actual in-game name. This makes it easier to identify NPCs that share a name or lack one, as well as make it easier to identify their purpose. The in-game names will still be listed, however.

DemoTestToddManDarkElf

Form ID: 0002DF5F
Name: Alban Justinius

A level 3 Imperial knight. He's clad in a full set of elven armor and has an elven shield and an elven long sword to boot. He's also one of the few testing NPCs to bear a unique appearance, rather than the default face. Despite the internal name, there's no indication that Alban was ever a Dark Elf. His unique AI package called "DemoFightGuyApproach" and attached script called "DemoDaedrothFight" indicate that he was supposed to fight a Daedroth in some kind of demo when the player approached. The Daedroth in question doesn't appear to remain in the files. It's also unknown where or under what circumstances this demo was meant to take place.

EmilChorrolGuardTest

Form ID: 0006FDB6
Name: Chorrol Guard

Appears to just be a duplicate of a generic Chorrol guard (template), although this NPC uses a different face than the ones found in-game. Like his stats, he shares the same inventory as Chorrol guards in the final game, although he lacks a bow and arrows, as well as a shield. He is placed inside of the test cell internally known as "GuardConvoTest" alongside the Leyawiin City Watch test NPC seen below, as well as a generic Imperial Legion Soldier. His purpose was to test if the guard conversation system worked. The "Emil" in his name refers to Emil Pagliarulo, a developer credited as part of the Quest Design team.

EmilLeyawiinGuardTest

Form ID: 0006FDB4
Name: Leyawiin City Watch

Appears to be a duplicate of a generic Leyawiin City Watch member (template), although this NPC uses the default hairstyle. Unlike the Chorrol variation, this one has no oddities in his inventory. Besides this, all noteworthy info can be read above.

FemaleFashionModel

Form ID: 000231A0
Name: Brooke

A female level 1 Dark Elf pilgrim. She's found in the nameless cell internally known as "ZClothesTest". Despite this, and her name, she doesn't actually wear any clothes or carry any items at all.

lyndacartertest

Form ID: 000CD302
Name: Lynda Carter

A female level 5 Nord warrior. She's named after the voice actress for female Nords, Lynda Carter. She wears a yellow arena light raiment and carries some leveled lower class gold, as well as an arena-variant ebony longsword (meaning it can't be picked up). She has a single unvoiced greeting which was meant to be played in some kind of MTV promo, as revealed by her attached script "LyndaMTVScript". She's also attached to a quest called "for mtv promo", internally just referred to as "lyndacarter". She can be found wandering around in the test world "Toddland".

TestArena01

Form ID: 000274CB
Name: Arena Contestant

A female level 20 Imperial warrior. She wears a full set of iron armor, minus the helmet, as well as a steel shield and an iron longsword. She also has a notable 100000 base health. Besides this, she also has the script "Arenatest" attached to her. It reads as follows:

Scriptname Arenatest

Begin GameMode

;this is just a test to get the Chorrol arena guys fighting
; COMMENTED OUT BECAUSE REFS HAVE BEEN DELETED
;if (ChorrolArena01ref.GetCurrentAIPackage != 5)
; ChorrolArena02ref.Startcombat ChorrolArena01ref
; ChorrolArena01ref.Startcombat ChorrolArena02ref
;endif

End

Despite being commented out, this code shows that this NPC and the following one were just meant to test fights between arena NPCs. It's also notable because it mentions the removed Chorrol Arena. Like it says in the script, her ref is deleted, meaning she can't be found anywhere.

TestArena02

Form ID: 000274CC
Name: Arena Champion

A male level 20 Imperial Knight. He wears a full set of iron armor and carries an iron battle axe. He's also a part of the "Arena Yellow Team" faction, unlike the previous NPC who wasn't part of any factions. This NPC does share the incredible base health of 100000 though. He doesn't have any attached scripts either, despite the above script also referring to him. He is not placed in any cells.

TESTArgonian

Form ID: 000132AEB
Name: Tar-Meena

A male test Argonian who is seemingly a duplicate of the existing NPC Tar-Meena. He's a level 28 sorcerer just like Tar-Meena in the final game. He also has her permanent essential status, as well as her "Mages Guild" and "Arcane University" factions. Besides that, he doesn't wear anything and only carries some leveled gold. He isn't placed anywhere.

TestArgonianMale

Form ID: 00062B9E
Name: TestArgonian

A very basic testing Argonian. He's a level 1 acrobat, which is the default setting. He doesn't have anything noteworthy about him, he also isn't placed anywhere.

TESTBandit

Form ID: 00009ABE
Name: Bandit Ringleader

A female Redguard Bandit Boss that is level scaled with the player to always be the same level. She is part of the "BanditFaction" and wears and carries many leveled items. Seems to be a testing NPC for generic bandits.

TESTBandit14

Form ID: 00009AD3
Name: Bandit Ringleader

This bandit ringleader is practically the same as the previous one, except that this one isn't level scaled but permanently set to level 15.

TESTBandit21

Form ID: 00009AD6
Name: Bandit Ringleader

Same as above, but now permanently set to level 22.

TESTBandit7

Form ID: 00009AD5
Name: Bandit Ringleader

Same as above, but now permanently set to level 8.

TestBattleMage

Form ID: 00027065
Name: Shows-His-Arrow-Quickly

A male level 5 Imperial battlemage who was used to test ranged attacks. He wears mithril gauntlets, greaves and boots combined with a viperbane cuirass. He's armed with a silver shortsword as well as a silver bow with 15 steel arrows, and he also knows the spell Frost Bolt. This NPC can be found in the unnamed cell internally known as "TestRangedDungeon", which can be accessed from the testing hall.

TestBelgarr

Form ID: 00025264
Name: Belgarr

A male level 1 Imperial knight that owns the cell "Trespass Test Warehouse" in which he is also found. This is done so that he can alert the player that they are trespassing, which is his only function. He wears a full set of steel armor and carries a steel longsword. The warehouse cell in which he resides can be visited through Hawkhaven, which can be accessed from the testing hall.

TestBoundBuff

Form ID: 0003AB78
Name: Uses Bound

A female level 10 Dark Elf battlemage that was made to test bound spells. She wears some basic clothing and carries an iron dagger. She knows the spells Summon Zombie, Bound Sword, and Bound Cuirass.

TestBreton

Form ID: 00064DA4
Name: Hlaro Dren

A male level 1 Breton necromancer that was just a test for the Breton race. Besides the fact that he has a Dunmer name, he doesn't have anything noteworthy about him. He isn't placed anywhere.

TestBruce

Form ID: 00025237
Name: Bruce

A leveled male Imperial crusader. His name likely refers to quest designer Bruce Nesmith. He wears a full set of leveled heavy armor, and carries a leveled heavy shield as well as a leveled enchanted longsword. He knows some leveled crusader spells, as well as Flare and Heal Minor Wounds, he is also a part of the "Generic Owner" and "Player Faction" factions. This is how he appears in the base game, where he also isn’t placed anywhere.

The Knights of the Nine DLC alters him a bit. His gear gets replaced with the Crusader's Relics, and an instance of him gets placed in the cell internally known as "Testarena" alongside an instance of Umaril. He stays leveled and doesn't get added to any factions. However, his gear is completely changed to the Crusader's Relics.

With the Shivering Isles DLC, he gets altered a bit more. He is no longer leveled, instead being made level 7 permanently, this influences his stats of course. He now also carries a Dwarven longsword alongside his leveled gear and he gets added to the "Prey" faction. One instance also gets placed in the cell internally known as "Testarena" alongside a Diseased Scalon, likely to test the monster's fighting capabilities.

TestBruceItems

Form ID: 0000C23E
Name: Bruce

A leveled Breton mage. He's part of the "GenericOwner" and "PlayerFaction" factions and carries a Potion of Frost Shield, as well as an Ice Shield scroll. He also knows the spells Frost Shield, as well as Frost and Heal Minor Wounds. If his name is anything to go by, he was used to test NPCs using items like potions and scrolls. He isn't placed anywhere.

TestBruceNoMagic

Form ID: 0000950D
Name: Bruce

A leveled Breton warrior. He's part of the same factions as the Bruce above, but this version carries a Weak Potion of Fire Shield as well as a Weak Potion of Shock Shield. Like his name indicates, he knows no spells, and this one is also not placed anywhere.

TestBruceSpells

Form ID: 00005245
Name: Bruce

Another leveled Breton mage, with the same factions as the previous versions. He carries one Defend scroll and one Protect scroll. He also knows the spells Guard, Flare, and Heal Minor Wounds. He was probably just used to test basic NPC spellcasting. Like the others, this Bruce isn't placed anywhere.

TestCaldwynTrespass

Form ID: 0002A00D
Name: Caldwyn

A male Imperial knight wearing a full set of iron armor, only lacking the helmet. He also carries an iron longsword and a steel shield. His unique AI package makes him wander around his editor location. This location being a cell identified as "CaldwynsDomain" located in the "TestWorld" world. Because he is located outside, his apparent function of warning the player about trespassing doesn't work.

TestChappyCombatGuy

Form ID: 0002AD83
Name: Test Guy

A level 20 male Imperial knight. He wears a full set of steel armor and carries an iron warhammer. He also carries one respawning instance each of Ale, Beer, Mead, Cheap Wine, and Tamika Vintage 399. He's placed in the unnamed cell internally known as "TestChappy" where he will always be found standing still and drinking. You can engage in combat with him, and due to his attached script called "TestChappyScript" (and some extra scripting magic), he will change into the Staff of Worms. This may have been a test for similar scenarios with enemies turning into different lootable containers, like ghosts. All instances of "Chappy" refer to the nickname of developer Brian Chapin.

TestCharactersMaleskeleton

Form ID: 00025236
Name: [Blank]

A male Imperial knight with no name, inventory, AI or anything else. It seems he was simply created to test the "skeleton" that's used to rig the animations to the characters. He's not placed anywhere, and a female counterpart doesn't exist.

TestClothes

Form ID: 00082DE5
Name: Arena Contestant

A level 20 male Breton warrior that was seemingly used to test the look of certain clothes. He only wears black wide pants, though. Weirder though is that he uses a testing AI package that points to the unnamed cell "EmilTest". It seems that this is because he is copied from another test NPC internally known as "TestPosion". This NPC is located in said cell and them having the AI package makes more sense. TestClothes isn't placed anywhere.

TestClothing

Form ID: 00025742
Name: TestClothing

A male Imperial knight, seemingly also intended to test something clothing-related. Once again apparently not getting the point as they only wear an instance of the Colovian Signet Ring normally only worn by Count Ormellius Goldwine in the final game. He's found alongside another test NPC called TestKKWoman in an unnamed cell internally known as "TestKK". "KK" in these instances probably refers to developer Kurt Kuhlmann.

TestConanLibrarian

Form ID: 00023DB8
Name: Will flee when losing

A male level 10 Imperial monk. He wears a full set of chainmail armor, only missing the helmet, and he's armed with an iron longsword. His name refers to his low confidence stat of 40, making him retreat from combat when he's low on health. He has a unique sandbox package that's broken because the duration is set to 0, making him immobile at all times. One instance of him can be found in the "Hawkhaven" cell of the previously mentioned "TestWorld". Another instance can be found in the cell "Fighting Dojo", internally known as "WarehouseFight".

TESTConjurer

Form ID: 00009AC0
Name: Conjurer Adept

Like the bandits mentioned above, this NPC seems to just be a generic testing version of Conjurer enemies. Because of this, they possess the related class, AI, inventory and factions for this role. They are a male Breton that's at the same level as the player.

TESTConjurer14

Form ID: 00009AD8
Name: Conjurer Adept

Same as above, but now permanently set at level 14.

TESTConjurer21

Form ID: 00009AD9
Name: Conjurer Adept

Same as above, but now permanently set at level 21.

TESTConjurer7

Form ID: 00009AD7
Name: Conjurer Adept

Same as above, but now permanently set at level 7.

TestCountTyroneRugen

Form ID: 0002B7D0
Name: Count Tyrone Rugen

A level 10 male Dark Elf crusader. He wears a full set of iron armor and carries an iron mace alongside a Blades shield. He also possesses a very basic AI package that keeps him standing in place. The most notable thing about this NPC is his name, as it's directly lifted from the 1987 film The Princess Bride. Rugen shares this distinction with two of his compatriots that are also found in the same cell as him, "Combat AI Warehouse". The name of this cell indicates that he was used to test something related to combat AI, although exactly what this was isn't clear.

TESTDarkElf

Form ID: 000165CA5
Name: Hlaro Dren

Another NPC made for generic race testing. Hlaro is a male Dark Elf, he wears a middle-class outfit and carries a befitting amount of random gold. He also uses a basic "stay at location" AI package. Hlaro isn't placed in any cells.

TestDead

Form ID: 000785E1
Name: Kill Me

A male Breton acrobat, his name says it all. His purpose is to be killed by the player, in order to test scripting effects. This is accomplished by his attached script: "TestDeadScript"

Scriptname TestDeadScript

float ScaleMe
float TestScale
float Timer
short Go

begin OnDeath Player
    Messagebox "You killed me!"
end

begin OnActivate

    if ( IsActionRef Player == 1 )
        Message "I'm growing!"
        set Timer to 5
        Set TestScale to 1.00
        Set Go to 1

    endif

end

begin gamemode

    if ( Timer > 0 )
Set Timer to ( Timer - GetSecondsPassed )
        Set TestScale to ( TestScale + .0025 )
        SetScale TestScale
    else
        ;do nothing
    endif

end

Upon death, a message box pops up stating "You killed me!". However, if the player does not immediately kill him, but instead talks to him, another message box will pop up, stating "I'm growing!" Effectively starting a countdown where the NPC will gradually increase in size. Besides this, the NPC has nothing notable about him. One instance can be found in the unnamed cell internally known as "TestAlan". This opens up the possibility that the NPC was created by Quest Designer Alan Nanes.

TestDeadMeat

Form ID: 000980E0
Name: Dead Meat

A male NPC that has nothing special about them, besides the fact that they also have a very basic AI package attached. Oh, and they're one of only two people in the base game to make use of the otherwise-unseen "VampireRace". Possibly used as a generic corpse test, or used to test the race, but ultimately his purpose is unclear. He's not placed anywhere in-game.

TestDenyiir

Form ID: 00025266
Name: Denyiir

A very special testing NPC. Denyiir is a male Imperial merchant, notably featuring blue hair. He was seemingly used to test a number of functions. For starters, he offers every merchant service in-game, from recharging to repairing armor. When trading, he has a huge capital of 65535 gold. He also trades all kinds of items. His one unique AI package called "TestProvidesServices8x12testdenyiir" shows that he was indeed used to test services. He is also marked as respawning, but that doesn't appear to be needed, since he's marked as essential anyways.

One instance of him appears in the test cell "Hawkhaven" outside of a building, surrounded by two books, a pair of tongs, a Blades cuirass and an anvil. To the left of him are three testing containers, one of which, called "Test Crate", acts as his merchant chest. This crate even contains some more test items normally not meant to be encountered. Besides the crate, Denyiir also has some items in his inventory that he also sells: 90 silver urns, 7 silver tankards, 2 silver spoons, 1 silver plate, 69 heads of lettuce, 1 inkwell, 1 hourglass, 20 bowls, 1 copy of the book Darkest Darkness, and 1 copy of the book The Locked Room. He also wears the lower class 1 outfit consisting of rough leather shoes, a blacksmith's apron and blacksmith's pants.

Another instance of him appears in the AI Testing Warehouse, although his inclusion there doesn't serve any special purpose. Another thing Denyiir was meant to test is dialogue, and there's a whole slew of lines attached to him. Since these aren't voiced, you will not see them if subtitles aren't turned on. Besides this, he also knows a multitude of spells, but they aren't of importance.

TESTDetection

Form ID: 000055BD
Name: Bandit

This NPC is basically just a copy of a generic Khajiit bandit. He is used in the test cell "TestKurtDetection" and is the only other living thing found in this test cell. He's also in possession of a unique AI package called "TESTDetectionNeverMove" which functions exactly like you expect it would.

TestDeweyDecimal

Form ID: 00025350
Name: Dewey Decimal

A male Imperial level 20 warrior. He's clad in a full set of Blades armor, and carries a Blades shield and a steel longsword. He appears to be named after the Dewey Decimal Classification. Dewey is mostly used as a generic enemy in multiple test cells. One instance of him appears in Hawkhaven, another in the cell "TestHackdirt" in the testing world "TestGragtown". A third instance of him is present in the "Fighting Dojo" cell.

TestDremora

Form ID: 000342C3
Name: derek

A level 1 Argonian acrobat. This NPC was possibly made as a placeholder until Dremora NPCs got their own race. There's nothing else notable about him, and his name doesn't reference any developer, so it's likely that it's just a random name. He isn't placed anywhere.

testDremoraMaleA

Form ID: 0003832F
Name: Genghis

A level 1 Dremora acrobat. This NPC seems to have been created after the Dremora got their own race, and was probably used as a general test/template. He doesn't have anything else noteworthy about him, although his name probably comes from the Mongol warlord Genghis Khan.

testDremoraMaleAClad

Form ID: 00038331
Name: GenghisClad

Same as above, but now clad in a full set of Daedric armor, without the helmet, and armed with a Daedric shield and a Daedric mace.

testDremoraMaleLordA

Form ID: 00038331
Name: LordGenghis

Same as above, although now without the mace. This NPC also uses the hairstyle associated with Dremora Lords.

TestEndGameImperialArcherDagonAttack

Form ID: 0009061A
Name: Imperial Legionnaire

A testing version of the Imperial soldiers armed with bows normally encountered during the final part of the main quest "Light the Dragonfires". This NPC has the same inventory as the final version, but lacks most other things. He also has a different name than the versions that appear in the final game. This NPC isn't placed anywhere.

TestEndGameImperialSoldierDagonAttack

Form ID: 0009061B
Name: Imperial Legionnaire

Same as above, but for the melee variety.

TestErikNPC

Form ID: 000C789E
Name: [Blank]

A male level 10 mage. Alongside the previously-mentioned Dead Meat, this unnamed NPC is the only other member of the otherwise-unseen VampireRace. He doesn't have anything else noteworthy about him and isn't placed anywhere.

TestFortBuff

Form ID: 0003AB7A
Name: Uses Fortify

A level 10 male High Elf of the healer class. His purpose can be seen in his name, as is the norm for NPCs that are found in the unnamed cell internally known as "WarehouseNPCBuff" like him. He wears an outfit consisting of rough leather shoes, coarse linens and a shirt with suspenders. He also carries a steel dagger and a glass mace and knows the spells Bound Boots, Bound War Axe, Summon Skeleton and Fortify Health.

TestGoblinJim

Form ID: 0004F705
Name: Goblin Jim

A leveled male Breton rogue. He is either an early version of the NPC Goblin Jim found in the final game, or just a random test NPC that influenced the former's creation. Besides the shared name and the fact that they have the same pair of pants, there’s nothing else to indicate they’re related. This NPC wears sack cloth pants and a patched vest and carries an iron warhammer and some lower class gold. He isn't placed anywhere.

TestGuard

Form ID: 00027FCD
Name: Guard

A testing variant of a generic Imperial Legion guard. He’s an Imperial male that's always leveled 20 levels above the player. He wears a full set of legion armor and carries a steel longsword. He's placed in Hawkhaven and if the player gets arrested by him, they will be transported to the "Crime Warehouse" cell that's also connected to Hawkhaven.

TestHair

Form ID: 0006421B
Name: TestHair

A leveled male Nord commoner. For some reason, he seems to have been copied from the Bravil NPC Andragil, or an early version of her. This NPC has the same factions, AI, and inventory with only very minor changes. Besides this, he was used to test something hair-related, either with the slider or possibly a model itself, but what his exact purpose was is unknown. He isn't placed anywhere.

TestHawkeye

Form ID: 00027064
Name: Hawkeye

Hawkeye is a male level 6 Wood Elf hunter. He appears as a possible enemy to fight against in the unnamed cell internally known as "TestRangedDungeon". Hawkeye wears a mishmash of different pieces of armor, consisting of Blades boots, fur greaves, a leather cuirass, and leather gauntlets. He's armed with a silver bow and 20 iron arrows. Considering his type of attack, it's likely that he is named after the Marvel Comics character of the same name.

TestHelmetHead

Form ID: 00029915
Name: Widehead

An Imperial male decked out in a full set of Legion armor. He has a noticeably wide head, and this was deliberately done to check how the helmet mesh would morph with wide-headed NPCs. He's not placed anywhere.

TestHelmetHead2

Form ID: 00029916
Name: Normalhead

Same as above, but this NPC has a normal-sized head, with no influence on the look of the helmet.

testHEMale

Form ID: 00029916
Name: HEMale

His name stands for "High Elf Male". He wears upper class outfit 1, consisting of a green brocade doublet, a green silk garment and green velvet shoes. He has one unique AI package called "XXXHEMaleExplore1" that isn't set up correctly. It's unknown where he was meant to sandbox, as he isn't placed anywhere.

testHEMale2

Form ID: 00024615
Name: Test High Elf

A level 15 male High Elf hunter. He wears a full outfit of huntsman clothes and also carries an elven bow, but no arrows. He also has a unique AI package, called "XXXHEMale2Explore1", but this one is set up correctly. One instance of this NPC can be found in the test cell "MarkTest". His purpose isn't clear, but he might've once been used to test an early spell. He knows the spell "MarkSkullTest", and inside the cell, there are three staffs, including a copy of the Skull of Corruption. There are also five markers prefixed with "MarkTestSpellMarker" placed in the cell that don't get any use. The spell itself is just a basic "reflect spell" type of spell. There's also a line of test dialogue attached to him that's part of the quest "MarkTestCase". All these leftovers indicate that it's highly probable that this NPC was created by quest designer Mark Nelson.

TESTHighElf

Form ID: 000165CA4
Name: Mannimarco

A leveled female High Elf necromancer that was seemingly copied from an earlier version of Mannimarco, or just carries his name. She wears gold trimmed shoes and a black & burgundy outfit. She also carries a silver dagger and the Staff of Worms. She's part of the "Necromancers Cult" faction and knows the spells Summon Lich, Lightning Ball and Immobilize. Her purpose is unclear, and she isn't placed anywhere. Due to her internal name, it's possible that was just used as a general test for the race itself.

TESTIMMale

Form ID: 000245A6
Name: IMMale

A level 10 male Imperial battlemage. Like the previously-mentioned Test High Elf, this man also appears in the test cell "MarkTest". His name likely stands for "Imperial Male", similar to the High Elf as well. This man knows no spells and only wears middle class outfit 2, consisting of doeskin shoes, a quilted doublet and tan linens. His purpose was to seemingly test the praying animation an NPC can use at a grave. His unique AI package called "TestPrayingPAckage" makes him pray at the grave in the cell, which reads "Here Lies Vena Petilius". There is a grave that appears with this title in the final game, normally seen during the Molag Bal quest. Since there is an NPC that prays at that grave, it's possible that this NPC was used to test the former's behavior. Although the NPC in the final game, Melus Petilius, uses a unique animation.

TESTImperial

Form ID: 00064DA5
Name: Hlaro Dren

Despite the overtly Dunmer name, this is an Imperial necromancer. Based on their internal name, it seems that this NPC was simply made to test the race in general. He wears middle class outfit 2, consisting of doeskin shoes, a quilted doublet and tan linens, and he carries some leveled middle class gold. There's nothing else notable about him, and he isn't placed anywhere.

TestInigoMontoya

Form ID: 0002B7CE
Name: Inigo Montoya

A level 10 male Imperial warrior. He wears a full set of fur armor and carries a silver shortsword. He also possesses a very basic AI package that keeps him standing in place. The most notable thing about this NPC is his name, as it's directly lifted from the 1987 film The Princess Bride. Inigo shares this distinction with two of his compatriots that are also found in the same cell as him, "Combat AI Warehouse". The name of this cell indicates that he was used to test something related to combat AI, although exactly what this was isn't clear.

TestJPD01

Form ID: 00008B0F
Name: Heavy Armor 1

A level 10 male Nord warrior. He wears a full set of Dwarven armor, including the shield. His name refers to his "Heavy Armor" stat, which is just a measly 1. The "JPD" in his internal likely refers to Jon Paul Duvall, a developer that's credited under Additional Design. What exactly this NPC was meant to test isn't clear, likely just the effects of the skill increasing the defensive capabilities of the armor. The NPC isn't placed anywhere.

TestJPD02

Form ID: 00008B0D
Name: Heavy Armor 50

Same as above, but now with a stat of 50 in Heavy Armor.

TestJPD03

Form ID: 00008B0E
Name: Heavy Armor 100

Same as above, but now with a stat of 100.

TestKenManArgonian

Form ID: 0003A8E6
Name: Ken's Tester Argonian for Christiane

A male level 10 Argonian acrobat. He wears upper outfit 1 consisting of a green brocade doublet, a green silk garment and green velvet shoes. Twelve lines of testing dialogue associated with Todd Howard are also attached to him. Only the test NPC Alban Corinis still appears in a test cell where he can use these lines, the other NPCs with this dialogue, including this NPC, aren't placed anywhere. The names in the NPC's name refer to Lead Developer Ken Rolston and Lead Character Artist Christiane Meister. It's unknown what exactly this NPC's purpose was.

TestKenManKhajiit

Form ID: 0003A8E5
Name: Ken's Tester Khajiit for Christiane

Same as above, but this time the NPC is Khajiit, not Argonian. They also wear sack cloth pants and a sack cloth shirt, no fancy clothing.

TestKenManOrc

Form ID: 0003A8E4
Name: Ken's Tester Orc for Christiane

Again, mostly the same as above, but this time the NPC is Orcish. They also wear rough leather shoes, a blacksmith's apron and blacksmith's pants. They’re also of Knight class rather than acrobat.

TESTKhajiit

Form ID: 00064DA6
Name: Hlaro Dren

Despite the overtly Dunmer name, this is a Khajiit necromancer. Based on their internal name, it seems that this NPC was simply made to test the race in general. Hmmm, déjà vu. He wears nothing, has nothing else notable about him, and isn't placed anywhere.

TestKKWoman

Form ID: 00023188
Name: TestKKWoman

A level 1 female Imperial pilgrim. The NPC wears lower class outfit 6, consisting of buckled shoes, green felt linens and a collared shirt. An instance of her is placed in the unnamed cell known internally as "TestKK". Both the "KK" in the cell name and in her internal name likely refer to developer Kurt Kuhlmann who was part of the Additional Programming team. It's unknown as to what exactly her purpose was.

TestKKWoman02

Form ID: 00000882
Name: [Blank]

A level 1 female Imperial bard. She wears only a blue velvet outfit and blue suede shoes. There's nothing else notable about her.

TestLonelyman

Form ID: 00023D7E
Name: Lonely Man

A level 1 male Imperial knight found in the test cell "AI Testing Warehouse". His name is probably a joke referencing him being the only NPC found in said cell, but a developer placed another instance of Denyiir in the cell as well, likely to make him seem less lonely. Lonely man wears a quilted doublet with light brown linens and quilted shoes. He also carries a book, "Biography of Barenziah, v 1". The cell is set up with numerous interactables, and this NPC was probably meant to test them. He has a multitude of unique AI packages that make him sleep, walk around, paint, make a potion, read his book, and eat.

TestMadmartigan

Form ID: 00025D04
Name: Will Fight Always, Never Flee

A leveled male Wood Elf nightblade that's always 20 levels above the player. His name is a reference to the 1988 film Willow. He wears a full set of leather armor without the shield, and also carries an iron war axe. One instance of him can be found in the "Hawkhaven" cell of the previously mentioned "TestWorld". Another instance can be found in the cell "Fighting Dojo", internally known as "WarehouseFight". He shares this distinction with similarly named test NPC "Will flee when losing".

TestMage

Form ID: 00027066
Name: Arkana

A level 3 male Imperial mage. He wears green velvet shoes, a monk robe, and fur gauntlets. He also possesses a basic AI package to keep him in place, and three spells: Spark, Snowball, and Flare. He can be found in the unnamed test cell internally known as "TestRangedDungeon".

TestMaleFashionModel

Form ID: 0002319F
Name: Boromir

Despite the internal name, this NPC is a female level 1 Nord knight. Her name is a reference to the character of the same name in the Lord of the Rings franchise. She wears a full set of elven armor without the helmet, but has nothing else notable about her. She can be found in the unnamed test cell internally known as "zClothesTest".

TESTMarauder

Form ID: 00009ABF
Name: Marauder Warlord

Similar to the Conjurers and bandits mentioned above, this is the first in a line of leveled tests for generic enemy spawns. This enemy is a generic male Nord that's the same level as the player. He's part of the "MarauderFaction". His inventory is filled with numerous leveled lists, containing lower-class shoes and pants, enchanted longswords, heavy boots, a heavy cuirass, a heavy helmet, heavy gauntlets, heavy greaves, a shield, another longsword, and repair hammers. He has two generic patrol packages, but nothing else that's notable, and he isn't placed anywhere.

TESTMarauder14

Form ID: 00009ADB
Name: Marauder Warlord

The same as above, but this NPC isn't leveled and is permanently set to level 14.

The same as above, but this NPC isn't leveled and is permanently set to level 21.

Name: Marauder Warlord

The same as above, but this NPC isn't leveled and is permanently set to level 7.

TESTNecromancer

Form ID: 00009AC1
Name: Necromancer Adept

Same idea as with the marauders, but now for necromancers. This is a female Breton that's always the same level as the player. She wears Necromancer's Robes and a Necromancer's Hood, and her inventory is filled up with leveled lists, being able to generate: a staff, potions or poisons, another staff, a mace, lower-class shoes, a black soul gem, restore health and magicka potions, ranged combat scrolls, and random generic enchanted clothing. She also has two generic AI packages, is part of the "Necromancers" and "Necromancers Cult" factions, and has the special necromancer birthsign as well as leveled necromancer spells. She isn't placed anywhere.

TESTNecromancer14

Form ID: 00009ADE
Name: Necromancer Adept

The same as above, but this NPC isn't leveled and is permanently set to level 14.

TESTNecromancer21

Form ID: 00009ADF
Name: Necromancer Adept

The same as above, but this NPC is permanently set to level 21.

TESTNecromancer7

Form ID: 00009ADD
Name: Necromancer Adept

The same as above, but this is permanently set to level 7.

TESTNord

Form ID: 00064DA7
Name: Kurz gro-Baroth

Another NPC simply made for race testing. Despite being a Nord, this NPC clearly used the Orcish NPC Kurz gro-Baroth (who appears in the final game) as a base. They share the same level, class, and factions. However, this version only carries the Fighters Guild Key in his inventory. He also doesn't use any of the used Kurz' unique AI packages, his schedule being filled with generic ones instead. This NPC isn't placed anywhere.

TESTOrc

Form ID: 00165CA67
Name: Kurz gro-Baroth

Yet another NPC that was made to test a race. Once again based on Kurz gro-Baroth, although now the race makes more sense. This version is even more similar to the used version. Sharing all the same attributes as the Nord version, as well as the full inventory now. The only differences between this NPC and the used Kurz are once again a different AI schedule, and they have no visual resemblance to one another.

TestORMale

Form ID: 00024616
Name: Test Imperial

A male level 8 Imperial barbarian. He wears green velvet shoes alongside a green silk garment and a green brocade doublet. He's armed with an iron warhammer. He has one unique AI package that makes him explore around his editor location. Due to him not being placed anywhere, it's unknown where this was supposed to be. It's also unknown what the "OR" in his name stands for, or what exactly his purpose was.

TestPlayer

Form ID: 0008DD96
Name: Test Player

A male Dark Elf wearing doeskin shoes, tan linens and a quilted doublet. He also carries a leveled amount of middle-class gold. He has a generic trainer AI package, and is part of the "Player Faction". He isn't placed anywhere.

TestPosion

Form ID: 000918F2
Name: Arena Contestant

Practically a copy of the test NPC of the same name, internally known as "TestArena01". This version has more normal stats, and her name is a reference to the AI package that she was given, in order to test NPCs eating the Dark Brotherhood's poisoned apples. She's placed in the unnamed test cell internally known as "EmilTest", named after Quest Designer Emil Pagliarulo. Her editor id specifically refers to her as "Kim".

TestPrinceHumperdinck

Form ID: 0002B7D2
Name: Prince Humperdinck

The third and last of the characters that are named after the 1987 film The Princess Bride. Humperdinck is a level 8 male High Elf merchant. He wears a huntsman vest, laced leather pants, and stitched leather shoes. He's armed with a steel dagger. Humperdinck is placed in the cell "Combat AI Warehouse", alongside two other test NPCs named after the film. The name of this cell indicates that he was used to test something related to combat AI, although exactly what this was isn't clear.

TESTRedguard

Form ID: 00064DA8
Name: Kurz gro-Baroth

Once again, an NPC made to test a race, named after the Orc Kurz gro-Baroth. This version has the least similarities to the used one, only sharing the same factions. He has some basic AI packages in his schedule, but lacks any kind of inventory and isn't placed anywhere.

TestScreenshotWoman

Form ID: 00022D4B
Name: TestScreenshotWoman

A female Nord commoner that's leveled to always be five levels above the player. She wears a quilted doublet, tan linens, and quilted shoes. For some reason, she also carries "Andragil's Key” Andragil being a used NPC. The woman is also a part of the "Bravil Faction", and has some basic AI packages. Based on her name, it appears that this woman was used to take a screenshot. It seems very likely that she's the person that appears in a used loading screen, which features Henantier's House in Bravil as the location. However, after this use, she is no longer placed anywhere.

TestStair

Form ID: 00085E4B
Name: I walk up and down stairs

Another test NPC that's friendly enough to spell out their purpose in their name. This NPC is a level 20 male Imperial knight. He wears a full set of iron armor, and carries an iron battle axe. He's a part of the "Arena Yellow Team" faction, which grants him access to related dialogue, should you speak to him. He's placed inside of the "Fighting Dojo" test cell, on the stairs at the very entrance of the cell. He also has a specific AI package to make him walk up the stairs. Despite his name and all the other evidence, he doesn't actually move, making his purpose go unfulfilled.

TestStealthGuyAlert

Form ID: 0002D3F1
Name: Stealth Test Guy -- Alert

A test NPC that's dressed up as a Chorrol guard. He's a male leveled guard that's always the same level as the player. He wears a full set of steel armor (including shield), except for the cuirass, as he wears a Chorrol guard cuirass instead. He's armed with a steel longsword. He has a basic AI package attached, but is part of a unique faction called "Stealth Test Guards". It makes its members like each other, and thus support each other in combat. He and his compatriot are the only members of this faction. He's placed in a cell named "Stealth Test".

TestStealthGuyNotAlert

Form ID: 0002D3F4
Name: Stealth Test Guy -- Not Alert

This time, the test NPC is dressed up as a generic thief. He shares his stats with his friend mentioned right above, but differs visually. He wears a full set of leather armor, and is armed with an iron dagger. Like mentioned above, he's also part of the "Stealth Test Guards" faction and is present in the same cell. Despite the name of said faction, the cell name, and the NPCs' names, these guys don't actually do anything special related to stealth testing.

TestSummonBuff

Form ID: 0002D3F4
Name: Uses Summon

A level 10 female Redguard mage. Her purpose can be seen in her name, as is the norm for NPCs that are found in the unnamed cell internally known as "WarehouseNPCBuff" like her. She wears a Mythic Dawn robe with pigskin shoes and is armed with a steel dagger. She also knows the spells Bound Helmet, Bound Mace and Fortify Fatigue, but despite her name, she doesn't actually know any real summon spells.

TestTakeCoverCaster1

Form ID: 00049820
Name: TestTakeCoverCaster1

A male level 5 High Elf mage. He does not have any inventory or factions, and only has a single AI package keeping him in place. He also knows the spell Fireball, and has a noticeable 100 Destruction skill. He's placed in the unnamed cell internally known as "WarehouseTestTakeCover". In the cell, he's placed in a corner of the room that's barricaded off by wooden planks. His purpose seems to have been shooting fireballs at the player, but even when provoked he usually doesn't do this.

TestTakeCoverCaster2

Form ID: 00049822
Name: TestTakeCoverCaster2

An NPC with basically the same purpose as the one above. However, this is a Wood Elf of Battlemage class. He also possesses two different spells. The first being Hailstorm, and the second being a spell called "TestRestTarget" which seems to be a general testing spell for restoration effects. It's a basic ranged restoration spell. He's found in the same room, under the same circumstances, but in the opposite corner.

TestTakeCoverFighter1

Form ID: 0004981E
Name: TestTakeCoverFighter1

A male level 5 Imperial knight. He wears a Legion cuirass, Legion boots, and Legion greaves. He's armed with a Dwarven mace. He's found in the same cell as the previous two NPCs, but placed in the middle of the room. Despite his name, he doesn't fight unless the player engages in combat with him.

TestTakeCoverFighter2

Form ID: 0004981E
Name: TestTakeCoverFighter2

A male level 5 Nord warrior. He wears iron boots, iron greaves and an iron cuirass. He also carries a glass shield and a glass shortsword. He can be found placed right next to the previous NPC, and shares a similar uselessness.

TestToddDremoraHelm

Form ID: 000538DA
Name: Dremora Test

A level 1 male Dremora. He wears a full set of Daedric armor, complete with shield, and carries a Daedric mace. He seems to just be another test for either the Dremora race, the armor, or both. He can be found placed in the test world "Toddland", in the cell internally known as "ToddTestForestTavern". His AI package makes sure he remains in place. All instances of the name "Todd" refer to Executive Producer Todd Howard, which is the same case for a majority of the NPCs following this one.

TestToddMaleRedguard

Form ID: 0001DB3E
Name: Cyrus

Despite what you would expect, this is actually a female Redguard, of pilgrim class and level 12. She wears or carries nothing, and doesn't have anything else noteworthy about her. The most interesting thing about this NPC is her name, which is a reference to "Cyrus", a male Redguard who was the protagonist in the Bethesda game "The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard". She isn't placed anywhere.

TestToddMan

Form ID: 0000089A
Name: Todd's Tester Man

A male level 12 High Elf hunter. He wears only a silver amulet, and has a unique test AI package which should make him explore, but since the duration isn't set, it doesn't work and he just stands in place. He's placed in the unnamed cell internally known as "TestToddCrazy".

TestToddMan15

Form ID: 0003F8AD
Name: Man 15

A male Imperial mage. He doesn't have anything, as he was just created to test the face age slider of the Construction Set. The number in his name corresponds with his set age, 15, which makes him look young and unblemished. He can be found in the test cell "Test Faces Here".

Name: Todd's Tester Orc

A male level 10 Orc knight with nothing else noteworthy about him. He's not placed anywhere.

TestToddManShield

Form ID: 0001DB45
Name: Alban Corinis

The third and final Alban variation. He's notable for having some test dialogue available to him that's voiced by Todd Howard. Alban shares this distinction with three of Ken's Tester NPCs. The dialogue is apparently made to test both facial emotion reactions, and the disposition of NPCs. This dialogue is tied to the quest "Todd's Test Adventure", and is one of its only remnants. This version of Alban is also notable for appearing in the game's loading screens, pre-release screenshots, and even the E3 demo and related official trailer. There are four instances of this Alban scattered throughout multiple test cells. First, one can be encountered in "ToddTestForestTavern". Another in a cell simply known as "Todd's Test House", a third in the "Test Faces Here" cell, and the final instance can be found in the "TestToddCrazy" cell.

TestTrapVictimHigh

Form ID: 0005530E

A leveled female Orc warrior. She is always supposed to be two levels lower than the player, with her minimum level being set at 24. Everything points to her being a generic bandit wizard. Her inventory consists of leveled lists for potions or poisons, lower-class robes, daggers, light boots, staffs, and restoration potions. She has two generic bandit AI packages, is part of the "Bandit Faction", and knows leveled bandit wizard spells, as well as possessing the NPC Mage Birthsign. According to her name, she was made to test some kind of trap, probably a generic dungeon trap. However, it's unknown as to what exactly this was, as she's no longer placed anywhere. It's also unknown what the "High" in her name stands for, as well as what exactly "LCD" stands for in this context.

TestTrapVictimLow

Form ID: 0005530F
Name: LCD

Exactly the same as the NPC above, except this one is a female Breton. It's also unknown what the "Low" in her name stands for, and what difference this was meant to have in comparison to the "High" NPC.

TESTVampireArcher

Form ID: 0000B508
Name: Vampire Matriarch

Another NPC that was meant to test a generic enemy class, but this time, they're vampires! This NPC is a female Dark Elf assassin that's always leveled to be two levels higher than the player. Her inventory consists of a single silver arrow, and a multitude of leveled lists. These lists can give her a blade, either normal or enchanted, a bow that's either normal or enchanted, upper-class shoes, light gauntlets, boots, greaves, a light cuirass, normal or enchanted arrows, pants, shirts, potions or poisons, and lockpicks. She's a part of both the "CreatureFaction" and "Vampire Faction" factions, and has all the standard vampiric abilities. A male High Elf sorcerer that's set to always be the same level as the player. TestVampireNPC

Form ID: 00003A8A

A male Dark Elf warrior that's always to be the same level as the player. He doesn't have anything in his inventory, is a member of the "Vampire Faction", and knows almost all the standard vampiric abilities. These consist of Vampirism, Vampire Attributes, Vampire Skills, Porphyric Hemophilia, and Embrace of Shadows. He oddly lacks Hunter's Sight. He isn't placed anywhere and he might have just been used to test the vampiric abilities.

TestVendorNPC

Form ID: 0001E4EB
Name: Test Vendor NPC

A level 1 male Imperial merchant. As his name indicates, he was used to test vendor capabilities. He has a single generic line that can be used when refusing the player service. He also has a single AI package that makes him offer his services. He's set up to trade weapons and armor, but due to him having an empty inventory, (and him not owning his merchant chest, as well as it only containing books) you're actually unable to make any kind of transactions with him. He's found in the test cell internally known as "TestVendorInterior", which he funnily enough does own. A steel longsword and a Blades cuirass can also be found in this cell, but again, since he doesn't own these items, he can't sell them.

TestWoodElf

Form ID: 000165CA3
Name: Hasathil

Another NPC made to test a race. Weirdly enough, this NPC is apparently copied from Hasathil, a woman living in Anvil in the final game. Despite that, this NPC is male. However, he still shares his class as the used Hasathil, but he is level 3 while she is level 4. He also directly re-uses her inventory, AI packages and factions. There are just two slight differences, he lacks one altar worshipping package, and doesn't carry a hoe like the Hasathil in the final game. This NPC isn't placed anywhere.
