Pac-Man Connect & Play

No, not Plug & Play; Connect & Play. Either way, it's basically the same thing as other Plug & Play machines, although it is notable for including a special version of Pac-Man that begins on Level 255, allowing impatient players to experience the infamous Level 256 bug for themselves without needing to go through 255 whole levels first.

Unused Graphics#

To do:
Actual graphic rips instead of the raw tiles; could not get them separated for various reasons.

The remains of Ms. Pac-Man can be seen around address 1600, with semi-visual graphics. Presumably, the game was planned to be included at one point, but was likely removed due to its many legal issues in recent years. It should be noted that this port would likely differ from the Ms. Pac-Man Collection, as the Connect & Play's other ports are all unique.

Test Mode#

When the game is powered on, hold down the A and B buttons. After the copyright screen, the screen will cycle between red, green, and blue colors, then boot into the hardware test. Interestingly, the screen shows a possible early or internal name for the console, being "BANDAI AMERICA NAMCO CLASSIC GAMES".

After holding A and B for 3 seconds, the console will boot into the first round of New Rally-X. The game itself plays normally, but features a volume display in the bottom left corner that will fluctuate accordingly.

After doing the same button sequence, the game loads into the checksum screen and will continue to re-check every second. Doing the button sequence once again will loop back to the New Rally-X screen.
