NBA Jam Tournament Edition (PlayStation)

To do: Document the bug in this version of the game that causes the difficulty settings to be reversed (e.g. setting difficulty to hard makes the game easier and vice versa)

Hello! Welcome to NBA Jam! The first basketball game released for the system and the first game for the system to use the 4 player multi-tap.

Unused Secret Players#

To do: Find out who Kita and Sprite Boy are. The latter might be the late graphic artist Matt Stubbington (hence the Sprite Boy nickname), but there's not enough evidence due to no public photos of him existing.

An interesting bunch not seen in the other versions. They lack secret codes to be used. These GameShark codes will load said player after entering the 'Catling' code.

Catling: While holding L1 + R1, enter the following initials and date: CAT January 2.

Unused Player Graphics#

The head sprites of four removed NBA players--B.J. Armstrong, Gerald Wilkins, Monty Williams, and James Worthy--can be found at 50000, 68000, 10C000, and 12C000 respectively in the file PIN.BIN. Additionally, Rob Northen-compressed portraits of the same players can be found at 28266, 2B6D9, 41B11, and 461CC in PRESQUAT.GFX.

• Armstrong was replaced by Ron Harper due to the former being drafted by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 NBA expansion draft (The Raptors and Grizzlies do not exist in this game).
• Wilkins was injured for the duration of the 1994-95 season, then drafted by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the expansion draft.
• The New York Knicks have a full 5-player roster without Williams, and he only existed in the Rookies team in some versions.
• Worthy retired from the league on November 10, 1994, well before the release of this version of the game.
