Early Logos#
|
|
To do: |

In the file introscrn.gfx (exclusively found in the first gen releases), there are three early “V” logos that were originally going to appear, dated 2009. Oddly, the first and third logos are edited versions of the logos of the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics MLB teams.

Also, in /data/cdimages/scaleform_generic.rpf/gtav_online.xtd (exclusively found in the first gen releases), the GTA Online beta logo, where "Online" used the Pricedown font can be found. This logo was used in the pre-launch version of GTA Online.
Unused Blips#
All of these icons are in the same style as GTA IV's Icons, but these are still different from the ones seen in GTA IV. These icons might have been made with the "just in-case we may need them!" mindset.
Interestingly, there are "exile" icons for Trevors and Michaels missions. These could possibly be related to the story plot where Trevor and Michael are banned from Los Santos, but these icons could have been meant for something completely different.
Some of these icons like the "radar_crim_player" icon might have been meant for the scrapped GTA Online "Cops and Crooks" gamemode that got scrapped during GTA Online's original development.
Location: x64a.rpf\textures\blips.ytd
There are also unused "streaming" blips. These include some early icons for GTA Online's capture the flag game-mode (known as Capture in-game) and an armour unlock (maybe pickup) icon.

Old Character Switch Icons#
These are the Beta character switch icons.
The characters depicted on these icons have notably different designs and looked like they were taken in the game rather than as model renders. From their designs, it looked like they were taken from before or around the first trailer debuted.
Michael looked older, with more notable wrinkles present on his face and greying hair at the sides. Trevor looked a lot more cleaner and had no tattoos present on his mugshot. Franklin looks more or less the same, except with a different hairstyle. Chop looked... different, and implied that he originally had a more plump build (which is further evidenced by his official artwork).

Credits#
Image that gives credits to a bunch of companies/products by showing their logo's.
Location: x64a.rpf\textures\credits.ytd
Frontend#
A loading circle, a weird disk looking thing and a gradient background.
Location: x64a.rpf\textures\frontend.ytd
Ammunation#
A hud icon for Ammunation. Where in the hud this image would've been used is unknown.
Location: x64b.rpf\data\cdimages\scaleform_generic.rpf\hud.ytd
Social Settings (Facebook)#
A label that would've, based on the filename, been used in the pause menu in a 'Social' tab. This image alongside some of the phone contact icons show that at one point there were plans to integrate platforms like Facebook into GTA V.
Location: x64b.rpf\data\cdimages\scaleform_generic.rpf\pm_settings_social.ytd
Alternative Rampage UI#
Two image elements that could've been meant for Trevor's rampage side-missions.

Minimap LOD#
A low quality image of the minimap seen in the pause screen.
Location: x64b.rpf\data\cdimages\scaleform_generic.rpf\minimap_lod_128.ytd
Main Character Pause Menu Overlays#
Copies of these assets can be found used in the game as loading screen assets. These specific copies however go unused.

GTA Online Beta "New Character" Icon#
The GTA Online content that was on-disc for Xbox 360 and PS31 included this graphic for the Online character select menu, as a placeholder for creating a new character, which is seen when entering Online with no saved characters, or for the first time. The 1.01 update which enabled GTA Online for the general playerbase removed this graphic, opting for just a blank slot instead2.

Player Intro Names#

There are unused graphics for intro names found in the splashscreens.ytd file, which are named after the playable characters. They seem to be very out-of-place compared to the game's final style and are reminiscent of L.A. Noire. Judging from the internal names, they may have been intended for the Character Switch feature and would show the names of the characters when switched over.
There's also a graphic for Michael Townley, which is Michael's Prologue/real name.

Phone Elements#
Character Icons#
These would've been icons for phone contacts that would've been shown in the contacts list and during calls. The ones with the divider are for group calls, these wouldn't be shown in the players contacts list.
The YouTube and Facebook icons might have been meant to be used for a feature that would've made the game more connected with social media platforms. This is speculation though.

Social Club Contact#
Creatively named char_social_club.
Location: x64b.rpf\data\cdimages\scaleform_frontend.rpf\game_stream.ytd
HushSmush Profile Images#

There are three unused profile images of Michael, Trevor, and Amanda that were intended for the in-game Hushsmush.com dating website.
Inside the game's Language files, you can find messages that would have occurred if the Player would have contacted a person, with these images being sent by text message. These would result in, for example, Michael getting angry after finding out Foxymama was Amanda.
Story Mode Contact Icons#
Found in the legacy console versions at /data/cdimages/scaleform_generic.rpf/.

char_dial_a_sub.xtd |
There is an icon of a submarine that looks a lot like the Ramius, which later appeared in the new generation DLC The Doomsday Heist. |
Radio Icons#
These icons are very similar to the ones used for the radio wheel, just stored differently in the game files.
