Unused Cutscenes#
Ending X#
Watch on YouTubeAn unused ending can be found in Dead Rising 3's files. It depicts a rather disturbing ending in which Nick gets murdered by survivors, implying that he killed them all during the story.
Zombies On A Plane#
Watch on YouTubeAn unused intro. Since the cutscene with the pilots that plays when you wait on the title screen is called "Zombies On A Plane A", it was likely intended that it would've been the original first cutscene, and this would've played after. Nick and Dick's audio are very low for some reason.
Dick To The Rescue#
Watch on YouTubeA cutscene that likely would've occurred if Nick died during the intro, similar to Dead Rising 1 and 2.
Lab Escape Fail#
Watch on YouTubeThis cutscene interestingly takes place while Nick is captured by Marian and after Diego dies.
Unused Weapons#
Cutman Helmet#
Watch on YouTubeAn unused combo weapon that would have been created by combining a Servbot helmet and some blade weapon, most likely the machete. The weapon is based off the Cut Man boss from Megaman.
Cellphone#
An unused electronic item. It would have been a one handed item with the brick's heavy attacks. The cellphone had the same damage output as weapons like the baseball bat.
Unused Models#
Sniper Rifle#
The model of the Dead Rising 2 sniper rifle was found in the files of the PC version.
Bicycle#
A light blue bicycle was intended to appear as a weapon in the game, but was cut. No coding remains, but the model and icon still exist in the files.
Unused Stranded Survivors#
A few Stranded Survivors were cut during development.
George#
George, or svr_70, was meant to appear in Albert's boss fight. He has coding to spawn during his boss fight but never does, likely due to lacking properties exclusive to Albert's fight. He would have used the same model as Steven and Jordan.
Alex#
While not technically unused herself, Alex was meant to appear in the main story instead of being exclusive to the Episodes. She has an entirely complete mission, but is unable to appear due to her spawn conditions. The game checks if you're in certain range of her in order to spawn her in... but because she hasn't spawned in yet, the player can't be in range of her, thus making it impossible for her to spawn.
If fixed, Alex spawns during Chapter 5's waiting time in the cage in Central City that Liam and Cara spawn in, holding a baseball bat. She has a bench and wooden crate as a barricade, and crowbar spawns nearby. An explosion will occur outside the cage if the player is within 30 meters of it.
Jasleen#
Jasleen, or svr_98, used the same model and voice as Allison and Linda. Nothing else is known about her.
Howard#
Howard, or svr_112, was meant to be a victim during the plane crash segment in Chapter 0. It's unknown where specifically he would have appeared during it. He would have used the same model as Zach, Scott and Brian, and used Eric Martinez's voice.
Unused Game Modes#
In the files is an unused screen for a game mode selection. None of the options work, as they all go to a blank screen with no way to exit, other than restarting the game.

2 game mode functions go unused. "UsePlayerLives" and "UsePlayerLevelProgression". When set to "false", "UsePlayerLevelProgression" will stop the player from levelling up. "UsePlayerLives" is set to false for all used game modes.
Game Modes use their own IDs. For example, the main game's ID is "1662361359"
Lots of game mode IDs go unused.
"418040476" is for Stronghold Mode, a cut game mode. It has "UsePlayerLives" set to "true".
"181617944" is for debug testing.
"4229807521" is never used. Its purpose is unknown.
"4077862045" is never used. It has "UsePlayerLevelProgression" set to "false".
"635611904" is never used. Its purpose is unknown.
"3153100459" is used for a debug mission titled "D4 - 1st Look Visuals".
"576731049" was used for the game's demo.

Smartglass Feature Removal#
In the PC version of Dead Rising 3, all features related to the ZDC Smartglass app were removed.
- Almost all coding for the Smartglass app were completely erased. This includes mission scripts, game objects, and the text for Jamie's calls.
- The ZDC boxes were removed from the environment.
- All Stash rooms had their items removed, with the exception of the Stash in the Central City Wrench-O-Rama, which still contains a handgun, and the Ingleton Motel, which still contains a Fancy Painting. The lighting effects for the rooms weren't removed, however.
- All Stash room doors, except for the one in the Industry Tunnel Maintenance Access, were removed and replaced with static objects.
Bonus Content#
In the PC version of the game, there's a folder called "Digital Extras" with 2 files, "DR3 Digital Art Book.pdf" and DR3_BRADY.pdf". DR3 Digital Art Book.pdf is a PDF file that, like it says, is a digital art book, including concept art, early renditions of promotional art, and developer interviews.
DR3_BRADY.pdf is a PDF file containing snippets of the Dead Rising 3 Brady Games guide.
