This pose is used for Tenko in her regular outfit, but is unused with her Prologue outfit.

Himiko Yumeno#

This sprite is used in Chapter 6 in the Windows version, but is unused in the PlayStation 4 version.

Rantaro Amami#

Despite the fact that Rantaro doesn't appear in any class trials, he has an unused Debate Scrum sprite. It was used in promotional materials to avoid spoiling who the first victim was.

Miu Iruma#

The following content is NSFWIcon.png and has been hidden by default. Click to reveal content [A censored spiked dildo]:

Danganronpa_V3_MiuHoldingADildo.png Danganronpa_V3_MiuHoldingADildoBonusMode.png

An unused sprite of Miu holding a (censored) spiky dildo exists, but is not present in-game. According to series creator Kazutaka Kodaka in the game's art book, the sprite would be used when Miu got very angry, but they couldn't use it "for ethical reasons."

Byakuya Togami#

Sprites of Byakuya Togami without his glasses have been carried over from the previous games in the series, but are still unused.

Alternate CGs#

In the game files, there seems to be unused versions of the pictures of Rantaro taken by the hidden camera. They are slightly different versions from the ones that were actually used in the game.

Unused

Used

The door is missing some texture to it.

Unused

Used

Rantaro's right eyebrow has a ring, which was removed. The ring is still present in his appearances in the Trial 6 Closing Argument.

To do:

  • Needs more research done into which specific versions the unused one is used in and if it was ever patched on different releases.

Unused

Used

Rantaro has no rings on his right hand, a ring over his right eyebrow, no symbol on his shirt, is holding the monopad the opposite way around and is closer to the camera. The unused version is unintentionally used in the PlayStation version as a thumbnail for the photo during investigation. The final is used in every other instance. This is fixed in further releases.

Unused Virtual World Graphic#

In the files for the Virtual World, there appears to be an unused graphic of Tenko Chabashira's name written in Japanese. This is strange however, as Tenko never enters the Virtual World due to being killed in Chapter 3.

Unused Class Trial Graphics#

Argument Bullets#

Danganronpa_V3_KaedeArgumentBulletLeft.png Danganronpa_V3_TsumugiArgumentBulletRight.png Danganronpa_V3_ShuichiArgumentBulletLeft1.png Danganronpa_V3_HatShuichiArgumentBulletRight.png Danganronpa_V3_MiuArgumentBulletRight.png Danganronpa_V3_ShuichiArgumentBulletLeft2.png Danganronpa_V3_RyomaArgumentBulletRight.png Danganronpa_V3_AngieArgumentBulletLeft.png

Despite Shuichi, Kaede, Angie, Miu and Ryoma always being on the same side in every Debate Scrum they are in, they have Argument Bullet sprites for each side, so they go unused. Shuichi also has Argument Bullets for him wearing his hat, however he never speaks during the first Debate Scrum, so they go unused. Tsumugi's blue side bullet is also unused, since she's only on the player's side during the Chapter 1 Debate Scrum and doesn't speak in it.

Rantaro Argument Bullet Placeholders#

Danganronpa_V3_RantaroArgumentBulletLeft.png Danganronpa_V3_RantaroArgumentBulletRight.png

Placeholder sprites for Rantaro's Argument Bullets exist for both sides of an argument. They both show Shuichi's face, but has text overlaying it that translates to "Amami".

Tsumugi Argument Armament Emblem#

An Argument Armament emblem that would have been used for Tsumugi Shirogane featuring her older high school symbol, but it goes unused since she never appears in it, with K1-B0 appearing in chapter 6's Argument Armament instead. Danganronpa_V3_Tsumugi_Argument_Armament_Emblem.png

Trial Mugshots#

To do:
Every character has a right side mugshot. All of the "right" mugshots are unused except for those of Monokuma, the Monokubs, and Kaito, while the Monokubs have unused "left" ones.

Trial dialogue icons exist for Rantaro, Monomi, and Usami. Since none of them appear in any of the class trials, these go unused. Tsumugi Shirogane has unused icons for cosplaying as Mukuro Ikusaba in her Junko disguise. Mukuro is the only student from the first two games Tsumugi does not cosplay as.

Unused Room files#

To do:
If there is a means to render the room as it would be depicted, that would be great to have pictures of.

An unused dummy room is left in the files, simply listed as "ID000_dummy". The room would look like a checkered box with light coming in through a window, including portrait objects as seen below.

DRV3_Unused_Room_Floor_1.png DRV3_Unused_Room_Floor_2.png DRV3_Unused_Room_Wall_1.png DRV3_Unused_Room_Wall_2.png DRV3_Unused_Room_Objects_1.png

There is a second Dummy room named "ID999_dummy" but the only remaining texture is a singular red square, named in the files as "id999_red", and the other common room files. They're only 1kb in size which means it was likely never supposed to be rendered and just used for testing for other scenarios.

Spot Selection#

Just like in Danganronpa 2, images remain that depict points of interest that can be selected in a scene. Their in-game versions are included for comparison.

In-Game

The AV room from the first chapter.

Unused Minigame Graphics#

Monomi Minigame Sprites#

Monomi 1

Monomi 2

Two sprites exist for collecting Monomi in the TREASURE HUNTER! Monolith minigame. Based on the other sprites in the minigame, it would have flashed between the colors. However since Monomi isn't actually in it, they go unused.

Rantaro's Puzzle#

To do:
Upload the final one for comparison.

In the game's files is what appears to be an early version of Rantaro's puzzle from chapter 6, notably without the Monokuma-themed Zodiac symbols, likely a placeholder.

Placeholder Monokuma Thought Bubble#

Placeholder

A placeholder version of Monokuma's thought bubble from the Salmon Fishing minigame.

Early MonoMono Slots Sprites#

Located in minigame\slot_machine\slot_machine_US.spc\symbol.srd is a bunch of early versions of the sprites seen in the MonoMono Slots machine in the Casino which have been scaled up poorly, with some of them having slightly different designs from their current versions.

Monokid

Unused 2

Final

Monokid's early sprites seem to have an earlier version of his pauldron, lacking a second layer and the spikes to them. The "Hope's Peak" eye was changed from red to place. His early sprites seem to have a cropping error where the left Pauldron looks to be transparent.

Monosuke

Unused 1

Unused 2

Final

The early sprites have a different tiger stripe pattern, and the "Hope's Peak" eye was changed from red to white. His tiger stripe side also did not have a pink cheek originally.

Monophanie

Unused 1

Unused 2

Final

Monophanie's unused icons also have an early version of her flower, and her bra is different, seemly having a three star design rather then a single flower. Her "Hope's Peak" eye was also changed to white, and her stripes did not appear in the early versions.

Monodam

Unused 1

Unused 2

Final

Monodam's "Hope's Peak" eye was changed to a painted-on, semi-transparent dark grey color, and his final version lacks a "metal" texture the early versions have.

Other Unused Graphics#

Shuichi Saihara Love Suite Icon#

An incomplete icon that would have been used for replaying Shuichi's Hotel Kumasutra event from the extra menu if he had one. However, by the time you are able to unlock Hotel Kumasutra scenes, Shuichi is already the protagonist, and the Love Across the Universe mode still has you play from Shuichi's perspective, only adding Love Suite scenes for Kaede and Rantaro. Because this is using Shuichi's sprite before his "protagonist" reveal, this could've been used for a Love Suite scene where not from his perspective, most likely from Kaede's perspective.

Epilogue Chapter Select Preview and Icon#

Danganronpa-V3-EpilogueChapterSelectIcon.png Danganronpa-V3-EpilogueChapterSelect.png

An icon and placeholder preview image for selecting the epilogue on the chapter select screen, however the epilogue is not selectable on the Chapter select. The preview image seems to show one of the event scenes from Danganronpa 2.

Alternate Kaede Akamatsu Argument Armament#

An alternate illustration of Kaede Akamatsu's defeated pose at the end of her Argument Armament in Chapter 1. The artbook shows this along with an alternate design for her first phase.

Any unused Japanese voice clips?

Shuichi Debate Scrum Calls#

Shuichi has unused voice clips for calling out to Miu, Ryoma and Gonta during Debate Scrums, however, since they aren't ever on the blue side when you play as Shuichi, he doesn't call out their names.

Oddities#

The casino minigame "Outlaw Run" is actually called "Towa Run" in the game's files, and the sprites for Monokid and Monodam are named "Kurokuma" and "Shirokuma" respectively. The game is still heavily inspired by Danganronpa Another Episode.
