Unused Model#

A model named test_usami_model.gmo, which features running and idling animations. This character seems to originate from the PlayStation Mobile SDK, and based on its name is most likely a placeholder for Monomi in the Magical Girl Miracle ★ Monomi minigame.

Unused Graphics#

Unused Genocide Jill Graphics#

For some very strange reason, some of Sonia's sprite files have Toko from the original Danganronpa in her Genocide Jill persona. It's very possible this has something to do with the unreleased demo.

Unused Junko Full-Body Sprites#

Despite never appearing normally in the game, Junko Enoshima has set of full-body sprites, including ones that are exclusive to this game. Also keep in note that these sprites were meant to be placed far away from the player, hence the heavy compression or small size.

Unused Junko Bust-Up Portraits#

Junko also has unused bust-up portraits meant for talking to outside of class trials. This also includes the portraits that were made for this game.

Unused Watermark#

The night texture used for the last island in Chapter 5 has a unused watermark from a site called 123RF Stock Photos. Considering this, it's very likely many other textures used in the game are from this site.

Unused Climax Icon Placeholders#

There's five placeholder icons for the Climax Interference minigame, which features Sayaka from the original Danganronpa title.

Placeholder Events#

Super-Danganronpa-2-BGD-Placeholder.png
Multiple instances of this file are present, for numbers 146 through 172 and 182 through 197.

Cutscene Placeholder#

A versatile placeholder screen for cutscenes. Comes equipped with numbers.

Time Bomb Placeholder#

Super-Danganronpa-2-Countdown-Placeholder.png
A placeholder screen for the time bomb in Jabberwock Park. The text translates to "Going down... Time until destruction: [...] Days".

Monokuma File Placeholder#

Super-Danganronpa-2-Monokuma-File-Temp.png
A placeholder item graphic that reads Monokuma File 1. A Monokuma File is a key item for each trial that details the murder.

Super-Danganronpa-2-Placeholder-Icon.png
A placeholder icon for gallery mode. There are copies for numbers 145 through 150.

Island Mode Placeholder#

Super-Danganronpa-2-Island-Mode-Test-1.png Super-Danganronpa-2-Island-Mode-Test-2.png
Two test graphics for the "Island Mode" minigame. The image on the left simply details obtaining certain items, or accomplishing certain tasks. The list graphic is intended to scroll vertically in the empty space on the right image. The white text at the top of the right image reads "行動中 / In Progress". This section of the image was replaced with an animation of Monomi flying between Start and Finish goalposts as a timer. The white text on pink background says "早送り / Fast-Forward".

These strings repeat in the left graphic three times in a row. "宿をキレイにした! / Cleaned the hotel!" is slightly different here compared to the final version of the game, where it's written "宿を掃除した". The "体力がすこし回復した! / Recovered a little bit of energy!" message doesn't appear in the final game, but would have likely been used to show the results of a character resting.

Unused Demo Version Save Icon#

Super-Danganronpa-2-Demo-Save-File.png
A save file icon for a demo version of the game which was never released.

Unused Mugshots#

Danganronpa_2_Ultimate_Imposter_Trial_Mugshot.pngSuper-Danganronpa-2-Usami-Class-Trial-Mugshot.png
The Imposter has a mugshot for class trial discussions that goes unused, presumably meant to be used in the unreleased demo. Additionally, Usami has a mugshot for Nonstop Debates, likely meant for a part of chapter 6 where she appears in the background.

Super-Danganronpa-2-Evidence-Positive.png Super-Danganronpa-2-Evidence-Negative.png
Placeholder Truth Bullet graphics that say Positive and Negative, presumably meant for the "Affirm" and "Deny" bullets in the Shot Through the Heart events in Island Mode.

Unused Class Trials#

In the model folder, there are PAK files that show which characters appear in every class trial. However, some of these files go unused in the final game.

Stand_trial00.pak#

This class trial has everyone alive, including the Imposter. This is the Class Trial specifically made for the unreleased demo version.

Stand_trial14.pak#

This class trial is a early version of the first class trial, where everyone is using early placeholder art as shown here. This class trial also uses the early stand to show that the Imposter was killed.

Stand_debug.pak#

This is a debug class trial, meant for testing characters.

Stand_trial99.pak#

This is a leftover class trial that features every student from the original Danganronpa game, including the real Junko.

Unused Rooms#

Early Nagito Corpse Room#

Early Room

Final Room

In bg_169.pak there's a early unfinished room where you find Nagito corpse in Chapter 5. The corpse in the unused room is a grey doll as a placeholder, along with the stabbed Monokuma doll being 2D instead of 3D.

Early Titty Typhoon Closet#

Early Room

Final Room

In bg_53.pak there's a early room of the closet in Titty Typhoon in Chapter 3. The placement is slightly different and wall texture is less detailed.

Early Titty Typhoon Main Room Leftovers#

Due to reasons with current model viewers, it's rather difficult to properly view this room as everything is separated via its own files. For the sake of a less grueling time, we'll cover the unused objects in this room.

Early Character Designs#

These designs are attached to 2D model files. Because of the way the game handles these particular model files, the original images are vertically squished, distorting how the characters should appear. The majority of the following images are model renders, which retain the intended body proportions. However as a result of this, the lower half of each body is quite blurry due to a lack of image data. Most of these are identical to the character's concept art that appears in the in-game gallery and on the official box art, though some have minor differences.

The flower on Nekomaru's pant leg was removed, and he was given geta for his final design, originally wearing sneakers and later being barefoot. His previous school logo was added to his collar.

Sonia Nevermind#

Early

Final

Sonia's hair was changed significantly, along with the buttons on her skirt being removed. She also did not have a jewel in the middle of her bow originally.

Kazuichi Soda#

Early

Final

Kazuichi is shown holding a screwdriver in the early sprite but in the final build, none of his sprites show him holding a screwdriver.

Gundham Tanaka#

Early

Final

The cross pattern on Gundham's shirt was changed from a purple similar to his scarf to a redder color.

Final (Deceased)

The early version of the Imposter's stand for class trials reuses its design from the previous game, likely as a placeholder.

Mahiru Koizumi#

Early

Mahiru's camera was redesigned to add more detail to it, including adding the "Nikon" parody logo.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu#

Peko Pekoyama#

The placement of Peko's sword's sheathe was changed.

Mikan Tsumiki#

Early

Final

The red cross on Mikan's apron was replaced with a design of intersecting red stripes. This is most likely because the Red Cross is an internationally protected symbol, and the Red Cross Organization does not take kindly to people misusing it. Her hair and eye color were also changed (from black and gray to purple and light brown, respectively).

Ibuki Mioda#

Hiyoko Saionji#

Hiyoko's ribbon was moved towards the right, and white fur was added to her kimono. The "cat" pattern on her ribbon was also slightly adjusted and made larger. These changes were also done to the design sketches seen in game, but the Danganronpa 2 Character Design Profile 1.2 Reload art book depicts the early version.

Unseen Oddities#

"Man's Nut" shower scene sprite details#

The following content is NSFWIcon.png and has been hidden by default. Click to reveal content: ;

Super-Danganronpa-2-Shower-Scene.png

The game uses mist overlays during the "Man's Nut" shower scene to cover up Mahiru and Hiyoko, but the base image is a lot more revealing; surprisingly, this includes Mahiru's nipples being visible.

Chiaki's legs and panties#

Super-Danganronpa-2-Chiaki-Panties.png
Much like the previous image, the scene of Chiaki facing the camera in Chapter 6 has Chiaki's thighs and underwear(?!) drawn on the moving part for her legs, but most of it is covered by her skirt. Despite being shaded, this does not match the Underwear sprite depicted in the Island Mode reward ending, possibly due to only being there for sake of making sure the legs were placed correctly.

Alter Ego Junko model#

DR2JunkoPanties.png
Despite never being seen in-game, the 3D model of Alter Ego Junko has legs and even black panties under her skirt. Similar to the previous Chiaki thighs and panties, an actual (sprite) design for her panties does exist, but was never used in game until Danganronpa V3. Those are also a different design and more detailed then these, probably also just because this is only there for the sake of modeling.
