Unused Models

This is a sub-page of Proto:Portal 2/July 28th, 2009.

This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

To do:

Search and document potentially unused props
Add the animations of the models in this page
Early models of the laser relays and catchers exist in portal2\models\props\ (laser_catcher and laser_receptacle, however despite the name laser_receptacle seems to be a relay.).

This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically:

There seems to be two models of GLaDOS, one complete and the other broken down (which is the one used in the build). Check for any peculiar differences and if the complete one is a dupe of Portal 1 GLaDOS
- portalbuildroot\portal2\models\glados\

There is a whole myriad of unused models in the 2009 build, including, but not limited to, a very early version of the personality spheres and an early version of the redirection cube.

Unused Models#

personality_sphere.mdl#

An early model of a generic personality core. It has similar animations to the ones seen in the retail version.

reflectocube.mdl#

An early model of the redirection cube, which seems to be dated after the redirection model seen in the chapter thumbnails.

Unused Skins#

metal_box.mdl#

To do:
Get a better picture that shows off the icon on the sides.

Skin 2 of the cube model is an even earlier version of the redirection cube, back when it was a reflective cube. Portal2July282009metal boxSkin2.png
