May 2007 Builds

This article has a talk page!
view on tcrf.net

This is a sub-page of Proto:Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver/2007.

To do:

  • Please document the maps from before May 31, 2007 (you can go to them using the debug menu). May 31, 2007, just seems to be the first version that you actually start out in New Bark Town in when starting a new game, despite its maps appearing in previous builds.
  • Please check if any of these builds match each other or any of the April builds.

New Bark Town#

PkHGSSProtor393-NewBark1.png PkHGSSProtor393-NewBark2.png New Bark Town is in its infancy, currently made up of blank block-out models.

New Bark Town#

PkHGSSProtor424-NewBark1.pngPkHGSSProtor424-NewBark2.pngPkHGSSProtor424-NewBark3.png

New Bark Town gets a pathway pass, and a puddle where the water passage to Kanto is in the final. The red flowers have some odd transparency thing going on in this build.

May 16, 2007 (r428)

On the map tile south of Route 37, a sample map is present that is filled with all the buildings from Ecruteak all together, minus doors.

R486

The color of the generic buildings and Bell Tower entrance in Ecruteak now reflect the final versions. The roof of the Bell Tower entrance is the same shade as its door now.

Walking to the right of Ecruteak, where Route 42 would normally be, reveals what seems to be a test map for different walking types - sand, water, and grass. The tileset isn't loaded properly until you open and close the menu.

May 22, 2007 (r508)

New Bark Town#

To do:

  • Document dialogue here and compare dialogue to Pokémon Gold and Silver, as well as the final game (this includes Silver, the woman, and the guy)

NPCs are added to the map - a woman, a guy, and a Bug Catcher in place of Silver in the final. The woman's dialogue doesn't terminate properly, staying onscreen until you speak to another NPC.

Route 29#

PkHGSSProtor508-R29a.pngPkHGSSProtor508-R29b.pngPkHGSSProtor508-R29c.png

Route 29 has been started. There's no Cut tree yet, no NPCs, nor an Apricorn tree.

Cherrygrove City#

PkHGSSProtor508-Cherrygrove1.pngPkHGSSProtor508-Cherrygrove2.pngPkHGSSProtor508-Cherrygrove3.png

Cherrygrove is in the process of being blocked out and detailed. The water texture is warped strangely over the entire region of water.

Route 30#

PkHGSSProtor508-R30a.pngPkHGSSProtor508-R30b.pngPkHGSSProtor508-R30c.png

Route 30 is, likewise, being blocked out. Mr. Pokémon's house and the Apricorn Guy's house are both indicated here. No Cut tree or Apricorn trees are present here either.

Miscellaneous#

The Union Room, as well as the other player-interaction-related rooms, is a white void with weird height differences. There's some tiles that cause the player to look like they're wading through grass.

May 23, 2007 (r576)

May 24, 2007 (r624)

Ecruteak City#

The Bell Tower placeholder room has a door in the back. Neither that door nor the one in the front have warps, though, so you'll have to use the debug menu to escape.

Route 37#

New grass tile.... but it only got put here. Route 29 and 30 still use the old one.

May 25, 2007 (r648)

May 27, 2007 (r649)

Violet City#

PkHGSSProtor649-Violetbeta1.pngPkHGSSProtor649-Violetbeta2.png

Violet City is now blocked out, including a super tall block for Sprout Tower.

In addition to the building block-outs, there's a different iteration on the Violet City/Ecruteak theme than is used in Ecruteak. The lead instrument tends to wander a little for flair.

May 28, 2007 (r661)

Ecruteak City#

The music in the town has been changed to the track added in the previous build.

Bell Tower's entrance now has a proper doorway warp to the inner entrance. The inner entrance is still nonfunctional, though.

Route 31#

PkHGSSProtor661-R31a.pngPkHGSSProtor661-Route31b.png

The map for this route has been blocked out. The entrance to Dark Cave is still nonfunctional, and there's still no NPCs here or in the connecting towns.

May 29, 2007 (r682)

May 30, 2007 (r683)

May 31, 2007 (r701)

To do:

  • Add more information-
  • Images and comparisons
  • Translations and comparisons to the final game and original game
  • Document placeholder music
  • Are there any other maps?

Maps#

Much of the map is white due to tileset errors, including the interiors of the houses.

New Bark Town#

Upon beginning the game, the player starts in their house now. Since there's currently only one floor, the player's mom immediately starts talking to the player. The buildings in New Bark Town seem to use the same type of placeholder map.

Professor Elm's Lab#

Snowballs and Professor Rowan seem to be used as a placeholder to the Pokémon the player can select and Professor Elm. The snowballs bring up dialogue when A is pressed, but do not actually give the player a starter.
