The interior of the Tower has new trees, added either this revision or last, though the previous revision (r701) has broken textures, which makes it hard to tell.

June 4, 2007 (r721)#

Most of the maps in this build have broken white textures due to tileset errors, aside from Ecruteak, which is the same as it has been for a while.

The player is stopped from going to Route 29 now by one of the NPCs, just like the final game. To get past her, the player has to talk to Professor Elm....'s replacement, Professor Rowan, and click on one of the placeholder snowballs in his "lab".

Despite the blank tiles, the basic geometry for Route 32 is present south of Violet City.

PkHGSSProtor728-Goldenrod.pngPkHGSSProtor728-Azalea.png

Other notable blocked-out areas include Azalea Town and the area between - and including - Goldenrod City.

Route 32's textures are back! The rail still lacks texture, as does the fishing pier. The cave at the end of the route doesn't go anywhere.

Route 36, the route that leads towards Ecruteak from Violet, is somewhat drafted, though you can't travel far in it before the game crashes.

The Daycare is nothing but a placeholder cube and an empty grass garden.

Olivine City has a placeholder map that seems to be an early draft of Ecruteak, placeholders and all. This existed in the version prior, but texture glitches made it flat white.

The Pokémart has a sign now, and resembles the final Pokémart design.

Goldenrod got some stone flooring installed.

New Bark Town gets a new lab (sans upstairs warp), and all the houses have become... ice cubes?

A broken cylinder has been placed at the Ruins of Alph.

June 13, 2007 (r809)#

The walk-through-walls R button effect is not present in this one. This makes it difficult to get out of bounds, but a debug command (under Kagaya's staff options -> third down) gives you free movement.

The lab has been given a second pass, most notable for a change in the windows, a front door, and some blue tubes along the right of the stairs upwards.

New Bark Town has its flowing breeze effect added in this build.

This build introduces a new touchscreen that can be customized by pressing L and R at the same time. However, the only thing that works is the button for opening the menu, which is always in the top left corner, even if it displays in the top right.

Additionally, a new animation for entering the lab in New Bark Town has been implemented, zooming in on the player and opening the door before the fade transition. When exiting, it moves your player down out of the closing door and plays a door creak sound like in the final.

The Ruins of Alph has white model block-outs now, replacing the weird broken cylinder that existed here in a few previous builds.

June 19, 2007 (r873)#

The new player home now has a door, which has the same animation for entering the house as the lab was given in the previous build.

June 20, 2007 (r886)#

NPCs in New Bark Town rejoice, as they have been given a new building, complete with functioning door.

Final

The cut tree from r925 is gone, replaced with NPCs in the same places they're found in the final game.

Specifically: Check if the placeholder gates for the National Park are reused from DP.

A rather meaty revision. Many NPCs, though not all, have been added to the first three towns and a few of the early routes.

New Bark Town has had a detail pass, which includes adding edges to paths, adding flowers, and refining how the water is textured and animated.

The tutorial man in Cherrygrove City doesn't have his tutorial ready yet, even if you ask nicely.

The two battling trainers that block your way to Violet City are present, though their Pokémon aren't the same as their final counterparts. Talking to the one that would normally be inaccessible brings up a dialogue:

You're a Pokemon Trainer? Then let's have a Pokemon battle!

ProtoHGSSr954-Route32a.pngProtoHGSSr954-Route32b.png

Route 32 has many NPCs added, but only on the first half of the route. The Fishermen, Picnicker girl, Youngster, and Bird Keeper are absent here.

Instead of a Team Rocket grunt, a Plasma grunt is guarding the entrance to Slowpoke Well.

ProtoHGSSr954-R35a.pngProtoHGSSr954-R35b.png

The National Park is in progress, which also means the map between Goldenrod and the Park is no longer corrupted and won't throw a dict error when you walk through it. The door to the National Park will actually take you to the front gate.

ProtoHGSSr954-NatParkGate1.pngProtoHGSSr954-NatParkGate2.pngProtoHGSSr954-NatParkInner.png

The gates are pretty rough. The forked bottom gate from final isn't here; rather, it just goes straight up-and-down. The tileset for the National Park itself is nonexistent, simply blocked out in white.

  • Crashing in or near New Bark Town seems to have started in this build, so figure out what change might have caused this.

The touchscreen menu seems to have been worked on. It has replaced the X menu from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and previous builds, and can be navigated using the D-Pad or by clicking on the icons. However, clicking on them only makes them bounce if the X menu isn't opened, and the bike and fishing rods don't do anything.

The two battling trainers on Route 30 are gone, for some reason.

Goldenrod has NPCs now, including a Plasma grunt right outside the tower.

The only NPC present right outside of the National Park is the Policeman who stands by the gate.

June 29, 2007 (r1009)#

Clicking icons in the touchscreen menu now results in the menus opening like in the final game, even if the touchscreen menu wasn't open before. The bike and fishing rods only open the touchscreen menu, and still don't have a function.

ProtoHGSSr1009-R32.pngProtoHGSSr1009-Route34.pngProtoHGSSr1009-CopHasFriends.png

A number of missing NPCs have been added leading up to Ecruteak, which includes the missing half of the trainers on Route 32 and the missing NPCs below the National Park.
