Removed Levels#

davinci_tutorial_01#

An early version of the first level in DaVinci's Hideout (Rookie Test) is present in 1.00 of the Beta. The Sackbot for DaVinci has an early hitbox that's taller, and there's some unused logic present in the level.

level_zero#

An early version of the Introduction level is present in 1.00 of the Beta. The level was heavily overhauled in the final game and features a cinematic at the end, unlike here where it's just a descending platform you jump onto.

planets#

At first glance this may seem like an untouched leftover from LBP1 (as LBP2 uses pod_planets in the lbp2 folder instead), but it contains a notable difference: The Earth is decorated. (Note that the LBP1 Pod background model was replaced in LBP2 with an early version of LBP2's Pod background)

Removed Costumes#

Controller Costume#

An unused costume piece for a Dualshock Controller can be found in the first update. Although it can be used in popit, it doesn't exist in the final game.

Removed Music#

Questa Notte#

A temporary song called "Questa Notte" can be found in the files of the first update. Based on the way it sounds, it was most likely intended for the DaVinci's Hideout theme. The same song is found in the Pre-Alphas.

Removed Functionality#

Community Level QR Codes#

Originally, if you had published a level in the game, the level's beta.lbp.me page would have a QR code tied to it. Using your PlayStation Eye camera to scan the code would then show the QR code being scanned at the bottom left. If it is successful, you will hear a beep sound effect play, and it will take you directly to the level in-game. Interestingly, when you get on the Pod Computer, an animated overlay of the QR code you scanned can appear over the Earth.

This functionality was only present in 1.00 and 1.01 of this beta before it ended up being scrapped. The beep sound effect can also be found in the files of the original LittleBigPlanet, indicating it may have been initially planned for that game.

Unused Logic#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically: Get in-game screenshots of their tweak menus, along with each individual variant of the Sackbot Waypoints.

Some pieces of unused logic can be found in one of the level files. There are four types of sackbot waypoints in the level but they only use the two model files listed below. The center changes color based on which one it is. Besides the two named below, the other pieces are Jump Command and Walk Command.

Notes

Behavior Modifier

signal_convert.mol

This piece of logic has the name "Behavior Modifier" when tweaked. Unfortunately, its script isn't present in the beta, so it's unknown what it would do. It doesn't have an equivalent in the full game.

Grab Command

sackbot_grab_command.mol

A model for a sackbot waypoint that would make a sackbot grab something.

Layer Change Command

sackbot_layerchange_command.mol

This is the same as the Grab Command model, just used for a different piece of logic that would make a Sackbot change layers.

Unused Pins#

A few unused pins exist in the beta's files for certain events.

Story Objects#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically: Get pictures of these objects in-game.

Sets of developer-made objects exist as prizes in 1.00 and 1.01 of the beta, and were likely intended to be given out similarly to the developer-made objects in the original LittleBigPlanet. Some of these objects reflect earlier design choices for the story mode, likely ones dated before this beta.

Removed Stickers#

Chalk L1#

A sticker exists for a chalk outlined version of the L1 button, but none of the other buttons.

Team Stickers#

The Media Molecule staff stickers from the introduction level have their full bodies present, while the final game only has their heads. The only one that was a head was Dan.
