This is a sub-page of Proto:LittleBigPlanet 2/July 2010 Alpha.
|
|
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion. |
This prototype contains story mode levels that were seen in various interviews and even in the LittleBigPlanet 2 Adventure Trailer. Some of them are mostly finished, closely resembling to their final versions.
It also consists of leftover levels from early pre-alpha builds but with barely no new differences.
Davinci's Hideout#
Gripple Grapple#
Watch on YouTubeEarly version of "Gripple Grapple", still features a slightly different level layout from previous prototypes with few asset differences and new lighting,
which is changed to be set in day-time in the final game.
Bravery Test#
Watch on YouTubeEarly version of "Bravery Test" with close resemblance to the final version, includes changed dialogue and lacks a bunch of other assets.
Final Test#
Watch on YouTubeFinal Boss level, not so different from previous revisions but features different music ("Distraction" by Apocalyptica) once again.
Tower of Woop#
Watch on YouTube"Tower of Woop" mini-game, has only few tiny differences.
Noughts and Crosses#
Watch on YouTube"Block Drop" mini-game with an alternative level name, doesn't include Larry Da Vinci explaining the controls but features a placeholder Sackbot instead,
has some asset differences along with a different lighting.
Victoria's Laboratory#
Runaway Train#
Watch on YouTubeVery primitive version of "Runaway Train". Surprisingly, the Grabinator's model doesn't appear when equipped but instead features a special effect.
The effect is likely a leftover from the Pre-Alphas.
Brainy Cakes#
Watch on YouTubeA updated version of "Brain Damage" from LittleBigPlanet™2 May 5th, 2010 build, under the alternative level name as "Brainy Cakes",
there are only few noticeable differences between both revisions but is absolutely different from the final version,
featured in the LittleBigPlanet 2 Adventure Trailer.
Decorate... or Die!#
Watch on YouTubeEntirely different version of "The Cakeinator" that's similar to the level presented during GamesCrowd 2010 Interview and LittleBigPlanet 2 Adventure Trailer.
Currant Affairs#
Watch on YouTubeEarly version of "Currant Affairs" that has alternative level layout but still including a handful of sections that are almost equivalent to the final.
Kling Klong#
Watch on YouTubeFinal Boss level, not so different from previous prototypes but still different from the final version. Includes an alternative cutscene sequence at the very end.
Also one of the levels featured in the Adventure Trailer.
Attack of the Mutant Marshmallows#
Watch on YouTubeOne of two mini-games, contains asset and environmental lighting differences. The short intro sequence explaining the controls is absent from this level.
Rat Race#
Watch on YouTubeEarly version of the rat racing mini-game. Way distinct from the final version, as it only has one racing track with small obstacles instead of just multiple race tracks. The rats you control don't look like the robo-rats at this point of development.
The Factory Of A Better Tomorrow#
Cell Block Zzz#
Watch on YouTubeEarly & updated version of "Maximum Security" before being cutdown into a two-part level.
It consists of pre-release versions of two levels combined: "Factory Tutorial - Breaking In" and "Cell Block Zzz" with more updated assets.
Pipe Dreams#
Watch on YouTubeDoesn't contain any significant differences from previous builds.
Weapons Store#
Watch on YouTubeLater known as "Bang For Buck" before being cutdown into a two-part level. Theoretically just a slightly updated pre-alpha leftover.
Waste Disposal#
Watch on YouTubeUpdated leftover level from one of the pre-alpha prototypes of the game. No other significant differences than an inclusion of a bomb crane level section at the very end that was eventually reused & revamped for the final version of the level.
Chicken Chase#
Watch on YouTubeAlmost finalized version of "Fowl Play". Features identical (yet stripped down from stickers, decorations and other assets) level and boss character layout. Kinda weird how Copernicus the Guard Turkey evolved from being a metal monster to his final design.
Basketball#
Watch on YouTubeRough version of the basketball mini-game. Doesn't include the short intro sequence explaining the controls and many other assets.
Mind Control#
Watch on YouTubeAlternative version of "Mind control" mini-game, as showcased during the Gamescom 2010 Interview.
Included in "The Factory Of A Better Tomorrow" theme (even though it uses assets from "Avalonia") before eventually being carried over to "Eve's Asylum" later on. It could be that this was originally meant to be used for Avalonia.
Avalonia#
Basic Pilot Training#
Watch on YouTubeFirst notable version of "Avalon's Advanced Armaments Academy".
The beginning of this level is borrowed from a dev level called "Direct Control Vehicles".
Contains an early version of Avalon's costume and rough designs for RoboBun, MechaPup and Hamstertron 2000.
Sackbot Rescue#
Watch on YouTubeCompletely revamped version of a level of the same name from May 5th, 2010 development build,
mostly likely used as a blueprint for "The Sackbot Redemption" due to it having only one concept-wise resemblance.
Sharp Shooting#
Watch on YouTubeKnown as "Got the Hump" in the final game. Features a turtle-like vehicle instead of a robotic camel, initial level sections (eventually being cut or reworked for later), enemy designs that were revamped, and also an unfinished Negativitron (still referred as "The Sucker" in the dialogue) cutscene sequence.
Close Shave#
Watch on YouTubeFirst early version of "Flying In The Face Of Danger", completely different from the retail version, as it contains a controllable robo-wasp as a placeholder
(which was replaced by a robo-bee later during development), and including early designs for enemies with visual holographic effects in the foreground.
Huge Spaceship#
Watch on YouTubeSide-shooter boss level. Starring the boss design and environment that were both fully overhauled in the final game.
Shares resemblance in level layout and one of the bosses' attack movements.
Moon Boom#
Watch on YouTubeConcept mini-game from "Avalonia", later becoming "On Burrowed Time". Features a placeholder vehicle instead of a Hamstertron 2000.
Blobotron#
Watch on YouTubeEarly revision of "Gobotron" mini-game. More bare-bones looking, missing lots of stickers & decorations and featuring only one enemy type.
Eve's Asylum#
The Cosmos#
Sackbot Bouncing#
Watch on YouTubeEarly version of "Sackbot Bounce" mini-game that's lacking many assets and sound effects before it was revamped for "The Factory Of A Better Tomorrow" theme.
The Negativitron#
Watch on YouTubeEarly version of the final boss, features a radically different boss fight.
