Items#

Goldensoul#

The Goldensoul uses the pre-alpha's sounds and still has the unused “fade” sound.

Plasteel Armor#

The Plasteel Armor uses a much more basic design than the final's. This model can be found in the final's files, but its texture has been overwritten by the final Plasteel Armor texture.

I bet those antennae in the back make it easy to pick up signals from the government's mind-reading radio broadcasts.

Chromatic Armor#

The DM Demo Chromatic Armor is a blue-tinted Demo Plasteel Armor. It uses its own model and uses a copper-themed color scheme in the final.

Chainmail and Black Adamant Armor#

A file containing the textures for both the Chainmail and Black Adamant armor from Episode 3 can be found in the /skins folder. The Chainmail armor actually looks like chainmail, while the Black Adamant Armor is much less detailed than the final's skin.

Episode 4 Ammo#

A texture that has all of the Episode 4 ammo textures on it can be found in the skins folder. It's likely just an accidental leftover from when the demo was compiled.

Early Episode 2 Armor#

This is the old shit.

What appears to be a texture containing the Gold and Silver Armors used in Episode 2 can be found in the skins folder. These textures have a much rougher style not seen in any of the final's artwork, suggesting that this texture is very old and is likely from when Daikatana was on the Quake 1 engine.

Old Attack Boost#

The old Attack Boost model found in the final's files can be found in the DM Demo's files and it still has no textures.

Vitality Boost#

When a Vitality Boost is picked up in the MPlayer Demo, it will not give the player any health. In the final, it does.

Hosportal#

There is only one Hosportal model in the Mplayer Demo, which is basically a grey version of the “full-sized” model without a “HOSPORTAL” sign and a different-looking monitor.

What the hell is this thing's name?
Oh, it's “Hosportal”. Thank you conveniently-placed sign!
