YEEE-HAW!

Toy Story is a video game based on Pixar Animation Studios' first feature film. Despite the nature of it being a licensed game, it's mostly well known for being a showcase of graphical features and hardware tricks that squeeze as much out of the console to display pre-rendered CGI (that was rendered on Silicon Graphics Computers!) akin to Donkey Kong Country.

Being the lead version of the game, it has the most levels out of the other ports.

Unused Graphics#

To do:
Find out if there's a way to alter the SEGA screen in this game, much is the case with Puggsy.

The graphics bank for the SEGA logo was copied directly from Puggsy and contains a handful of leftover tiles, including the background stars, chain, and "LICENSED BY SEGA ENTERPRISES, LTD." text.

Unused Music#

Roller Bob#

A song unused in any part of the game. A version of this song was used in the Roller Bob level in the Windows version.

Level Skip#

When "Press Start" appears on the title screen, press A, B, Right, A, C, A, Down, A, B, Right, A (or ABRACADABRA). The sound of Woody exclaiming, "Hot, hot, hot!" (from the level "Sid's Workshop") should confirm successful code entry. At any point during gameplay, pause the game and press A to jump to the next level.

Regional Differences#

Title Screen#

US

Europe

A password system was added to the European release. The player is given a password after every boss fight.

Region Lock#

US

Europe

The only difference between the US and European region lock screens is that the US version mentions the NTSC format and Sega Genesis when played on a PAL Mega Drive and vice versa.
