Stage score oddity#

Typically, the stage score earned at the end of each regular (non-bonus, non-boss) level is a multiple of 100 and is based on the world number and the stage number within that world. Similarly, bonus levels award a stage score that is a multiple of 10, and boss levels award a stage score that is a multiple of 1000. However, this pattern breaks in World 9 (Sinking Swamp) and World 10 (Ultra Heaven) where a ninth normal level appears instead of a boss. Finishing each world's level 9 awards a multiple of 10 points—as if it were a bonus level—and finishing each world's bonus level awards a multiple of 100 points—as if it were a normal level—implying that the two values in each pair were inadvertently transposed.
