Debug Mode#
At the title screen, on Controller 2, press A, Up + A, A + B, Up + B, B, Right + B, A + B, Right + A, Right + A, Left + A, A + B, Down + A + B, Down + B. If done correctly, a message saying "MONITOR ON" appears instead of the hi-scores, but only if the title screen is renewed after the demo sequence.
From now on, there are some debug features made available. Instead of seeing the score, you can see a one-byte memory viewer. While the game is paused, you can change addresses by pressing Up or Down on Controller 1 or A or B on Controller 2. You can also press Select on Controller 1 to advance the game by frame by frame.
