Codename: Gordon

Codename: Gordon is a neat little Half-Life 2-themed 2D sidescroller. This game was released before Half-Life 2 did, and as such is in-part, based off of prerelease media.

After the developer, Nuclearvision Entertainment, shut its doors, their domain which had a hard-coded link within the game, was bought out and started to redirect people to... "dark", sites. Due to this the game was delisted. However, you can still get it easily on Steam by using its URL in a browser whilst Steam is open.

To do: Page is overall crusty. Some of this should probably be on sub-pages. Also check for other unused content I guess.

Highscores#

After Nuclearvision went under, the leaderboard stopped working and nowadays it only displays one name, with no scores. Attemping to save a highscore results in error.

Unused/Bugged Text#

To do: Other languages versions.

In the bonus minigame "Crow Chase", text that is supposed to explain the minigame does not display as intended. Instead of the coded, intended text, it shows undefined for all of them. However, in Codename Gordon/dialogs_english.xml (or any language), on line 327, the intended text can be found:

bonusgame0 and 1 show the text for the first screenshot and 2 for the second one with the bigger text.

Unreleased languages#

On the archived website of Codename: Gordon (mostly known as hl2d), the devs made an post on January 28, 2004 where they revealed that the final beta will contain 20 (actually 19!) languages. Those being:

• Italian
• Japanese
• Norwegian
• Polish
• Portuguese

However, the final release only includes: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese Simplified, Spanish, Traditional Chinese.
