beatmania IIDX 2nd style The sequel to beatmania IIDX substream, which introduced mainstay features such as Hi-Speed and the vertical song selection interface.

It was also the last IIDX release to be connectable with Dance Dance Revolution 2ndMIX's Club Versions.

Unused Graphic#

Found amidst file SEL16.MGP is a placeholder song title graphic, reading "Ishikawa HOUSE". It refers to Takayuki Ishikawa (dj TAKA), who composed several tracks for this game.

Regional Differences#

beatmania IIDX 2nd style was released in Korea under the title of beatstage II 2nd style, not only sporting differences in the hardware but also in the cabinet, which had much less specifications compared to the Japanese one. In fact, the cabinets exported to Korea were of a cancelled "regular" version of the game, known as beatmania II 2nd style.

Title Screen#

• The game's tagline, displayed above the title graphic, now resembles the one of beatmania II: "The next generation beatstage standard version".

Songlist#

• The song dong-tepo no.1 was renamed to rocket factory. Curiously, the song's overlays were left unchanged.
• The licensed songs been so long, Chotto kiitena (ZANSHIN-NA MIX), Mirrorball Satellite 2012, morning prayer, Shake, and The Rhyme Brokers, along with the Konami originals Get on Beat, NaHaNaHa vs.Gattchoon Battle, Panorama and Second Style (Hip Hop Paradise), are absent.
  • Due to these missing songs, the first two EXPERT courses were modified. The first one was also given a new name.

• Odoru! Fukujinzuke (CALCUTTA)'s title was simplified to just CALCUTTA.

Gameplay#

• The EXPERT life gauge is used in all modes by default.
