This is a sub-page of Prerelease:Pizza Tower.
Weenie Cop#
McPig's Vimeo channel just so happens to have a full playthrough of Weenie Cop's first level, in a very primitive state.
Pizza Tower (Vimeo)#
The first ever (proper) level designed for Pizza Tower is shown here, not resembling any level in the final game, other than making use of an early tileset that would later be used for John Gutter. This level still remains unused in the Early Test Build. Some early behaviors and mechanics are showcased here, such as Cheeseslimes and Pepperoni Goblins sometimes halting their movement and playing unique idle animations, Cheeseslimes having a unique animation for being bounced on (rather than simply being stunned), a scrapped high jump move, and a hook object near the end of the level. Notably, the level ends without an "escape back to the start of the level" mechanic, something that seemingly wasn't implemented until roughly a month later.
Things besides the Week#
PT time challenge 1#
December 19th, 2018 Watch on YouTubeAn early look at Oregano Desert, prior to the Grinch Race demo.
Who is this?#
April 12th, 2020 Watch on YouTubeA trailer featuring The Vigilante as a playable character, in early versions of Oregano Desert, Fun Farm, Bloodsauce Dungeon, and Wasteyard.
PEPPINO REACTS to the January update with better bitrate!#
February 1st, 2021 Watch on YouTube
- War is previewed here, somewhat resembling the level layout philosophy of the SAGE-era levels, and lacking its own unique timer.
- Several backgrounds are shown off; One for War, all of Deep-Dish Nine's backgrounds, a background from City, a scrapped level that had its concept reused for The Pig City, "Pizzaland" from the Clown secret room, which was also intended for City, two from Oh Shit!, and one from Don't Make A Sound. Notably, some are more color-varied and heavy on contrast compared to how they appear in the final game.
Also, Peppino gets a Big Gulp.
Noise du purple carré#
April 3rd, 2021 Watch on YouTubeA look at some gameplay and levels in the April 2021 Patreon build, featuring both Peppino and The Noise.
- Notably, none of the levels have been properly tiled
- The unused Mansion level lacks backgrounds.
- The combo meter has now been reverted back to a 2-second leeway.
- Don't Make A Sound has a spotlight effect seldom used previously, which would be removed in favor of a simple screen-darkening effect later on.
Pizza Tower Dev Log #32: I don't know what is going on#
July 22nd, 2021 Watch on YouTubeA basic update on how the game has evolved between April 2021, and September's Rework.
- It introduces the genesis of the final game's more speed-focused orientation.
- In the gameplay footage, the Ghost transformation's scrapped Squeak Squad-esque enemy possession ability can be seen.
- Also present are the Rework's moveset alterations in the first clip of Kung Fu and the second clip of Pizzascare, respectively.
- The Pig City is also present here, showing that the level City from April 2021 had already been scrapped at this point despite being pretty much complete just 3 months prior.
Still working on it?#
February 24th, 2022 Watch on YouTubeAnother update inbetween builds, this time between Rework and Eggplant.
- War now has a custom timer, though it's twice as tall as it would be Octobe22 onwards.
- The final Combo meter has now been implemented with its 6 seconds of leeway, though it hangs to the left of the TV, instead of directly below it.
- Combo markings such as "Cheesy" and "Brutal" hang around where Peppino is in gameplay, instead of where the combo meter is.
- Looking closely, it can be seen that the player has an S rank in all of the footage, showing that this is the beginning of when ranks were being adjusted.
- In Refrigerator-Refrigerador-Freezerator, the jetpack things were gray instead of red.
- Oh Shit!, the dark rooms in Don't Make A Sound, and The Pig City are the only levels that haven't been tiled yet.
- Notably Peppino's graphics in the hud's TV lack a solid background (except for in The Pig City)
- The rocket, cheese transformation, and Gustavo lack their designated TV graphics. The former two missing is strange, as their TV graphics were present in the April 2021 build.
Pizza Tower with a touch of eggplant#
June 13th, 2022 Watch on YouTubeA trailer for the Eggplant build, basically. Notably, the depicted footage shows an early playtest version of said build, with notable differences including redesigns for both Oregano Desert's background and the metal blocks, both of which would later be reverted.
Pizza Tower Steam Trailer#
December 2nd, 2022 Watch on YouTubeThe trailer that's on the game's Steam page also includes prototype gameplay, closely matching that of the November 27th playtest build.
Noise Update Christmas Preview#
December 22nd, 2023 A preview of the Noise's new moveset uploaded to the Pizza Tower Twitter. Being 4 months before release several notable differences are present:
- The new version of Distasteful Anchovi heard here is mostly the same as the final, but at 0:23 the "Y'all ready to get funky!?" sound from It's Pizza Time! plays.
- The TV hasn't been recolored for the Noise yet.
- The combo tick hasn't been changed to be purple by default yet, being orange regardless of if you've lost a combo already.
- The drill and wall bounce moves use the Mach 3 effect rather than a new effect that's the current color of the Noise's body.
- The drill move is somewhat floaty when moving off the ground.
