Altered Music & Samples

This article has a talk page!

This is a sub-page of Prerelease:Pizza Tower.

SOMETIMES I SEE A TEXT BOX AND I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSSDFGFFDHFGDJGGFSHGDFH

This page sucks.
If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome.
Specifically: Use other words than "instrument(s)" / Just change (almost) all the descriptions.

To do:

  • Oh boy, there's a lot to do here... Many music tracks got updated over time and some even got updated during the game's release, cover these in a future revision.
  • Oh boy, there's-a more... Some builds have REMIXES of tracks, those need to get covered too.

A lot of songs were either teased in an early state, altered, or cut from the game entirely during Pizza Tower's development. This page goes over the differences for each track.

Used Tracks (+ Remixes, used & unused)#

Pizza Deluxe! (Title Screen)#

Some instruments and samples are missing, such as the "Wahoo!" on the first drop. It notably features a lone Wario voiceclip from Wario Land 4, and the "Pizza" voice sample was more audible. The bass is also different in comparison to the Halloween demo.

Unearthly Blues (John Gutter Peppino Version)#

Was originally called "From The Top". This earlier version has different samples used such as "Monkey!" from the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie which were replaced for the final game.

It's Pizza Time! (Escape)#

Name

Song

Notes

escapetheme

The first known version of the song that was featured in the Early Test Build. It has a lot of differences which are detailed here.

It's Pizza Time! (Old⧸SAGE)

The second revision that first featured in Demo 2. Is slightly extended compared to the previous version and has expanded percussion, which would later be reworked for the final version. It also replaces the Wario samples in the middle section with new ones, which would be retained for the final version.

pizzatimeremix

A remix of the song made by ClascyJitto before they were brought onto the team. First appeared in the GOLF build, but was later included as a bonus in the Halloween Demo's dance room before being scrapped altogether.

The Death that I Deservioli (Escape Lap 2)#

One of several songs in the soundtrack that changed purpose several times throughout development. For a brief period, it was to be used during the scrapped Haunted Mansion stage for a chase sequence where Peppino had to run from Pepperman.

Name

Song

Notes

The Death that I Deservioli (Older)

This one can be heard in the Halloween demo. The portamento effect on the lead is present at the very beginning of the track, rather than slowly activating over the course of the intro like in the final. The tempo increase also commences on the fourth measure instead of the third. It has harsher EQ, a slightly different transition at 0:32, and is missing the live guitar playing of the final. A unique slap bass section starts at 0:45, not present in the final track.

The Death that I Deservioli (Old)

Closer to the final game, with a different section at 0:45 and different sounding guitars.

The Noise's Jam-Packed Radical Anthem (John Gutter Noise Version)#

The Noise's equivalent of the first level theme. Was seemingly intended for that purpose for most of the game's development. There was a period, however, when it had a different purpose; After The Noise's boss fight, he would run away with the boss key and Peppino would have to chase him all the way back to the first level. The player would then have to play a "Noise-ified" version of John Gutter which plays this theme. This was considered at some point near the end of development but was seemingly never implemented.

Name

Song

Notes

The Noise's Jam-Packed Radical Anthem Version 1

Version 1 is effectively a sketch that is cut short compared to the final version. It is missing many of the background instruments, and has no trumpets near the end. There's also a bit of echoing in the beginning.

The Noise's Jam-Packed Radical Anthem Version 2

The 2nd version is still truncated but is more developed than the previous version. Its introduced elements would carry over to later revisions except for the echoing in the beginning of the track which is still present here.

The Noise's Jam-Packed Radical Anthem Version 3

The 3rd version sounds nearly identical to the final. The live instruments were re-recorded for the final version, and some other instrumentation was adjusted.

Hot Spaghetti (Pizzascape)#

This version of the track can be heard in the SAGE 2019 build (except for the September 29th revision). The guitar is missing, there are no background screams, and the track doesn't fade out. There is a notable chord dissonance at 0:43, combining Cm with Fm.

Cold Spaghetti (Pizzascape Part 2)#

Name

Song

Notes

ColdSpaghettiOlder

The first known version of this track. Has a different lead instrument at the start and is shorter overall. Was already replaced with a later version by the time of the playtest builds.

ColdSpaghettiOld

The second version of this track from playtest builds of the Halloween demo. It used samples of Wario's voice, which can be heard at 0:45 and 1:39. These couldn't stay for obvious reasons, so they were replaced in the second version from Demo 2 with more copyright-friendly sounds. It also lacks some elements from the final song such as the synth solo at 1:49.

ColdSpaghettiDemo2

The third revision that first featured in Demo 2. The aforementioned replaced samples would once again be replaced in Blue Block Land with samples that fit in much better with the song.

Theatrical Shenanigans (Ancient Cheese)#

Used in the Early Test Build, and was previously titled "One Pizza At A Time". It has far simpler percussion, uses different samples for its lead and bass, and lacks the chords, backing brass, and electric piano of the final. Contains a unique accordion section which seems to have been replaced by the saxophone part at 1:04 in the final.

Dungeon Freakshow (Bloodsauce Dungeon)#

Name

Song

Notes

Dungeon Freakshow WIP V1

The first known version of the song. Has different sounding synths during the main melody, which were apparently changed right before the game's release due to copyright issues. The section from 2:08 has a different melody and samples.

Dungeon Freakshow (Old)

The version used from the SAGE 2019 demo onward until being revised for the final game. This version has the final game's melody samples for the 2:08 section.

Pepperman Strikes! (Vs. Pepperman)#

Previously titled "Threat On a Leaning Tower". The older version is shorter, repeats some parts, had different bleeps, and lacks the voice samples. The trumpet was replaced with a piano in the final version.

Oregano UFO (Oregano Desert Part 2)#

Name

Song

Notes

Oregano UFO (Draft 1)

A draft version that cuts off a minute in. What's there more-or-less resembles the final aside from a very different lead, seemingly a slide whistle, that plays a slightly different melody.

Oregano UFO (WIP V1)

The melody and instrumentation is expanded and closer to the final. Compared to the final, the song is slightly faster and the guitar is absent.

What's on the Kid's Menu? (Fun Farm Part 2)#

Was originally intended for a "Kids Party" level which evolved into Don't Make A Sound. This earlier version of the song has a slightly different melody and mixing.

mmm yess put the tree on my pizza (Gnome Forest)#

Some of the bass instruments are missing.

Extraterrestrial Wahwahs (Deep-Dish 9)#

Was originally intended for a scrapped "Space Pinball" level. Elements of said level were combined with the separate "Space" level to create the final game's Deep-Dish 9.

Name

Song

Notes

Extraterrestrial Wahwahs (Older)

An early version that's shorter and has a different melody at 1:30. Also has a different guitar sample which was replaced for the final game for copyright reasons.

Extraterrestrial Wahwahs (Old)

A later version that's closer to the final game in length and melody.

Leaning Dream (Pause Screen)#

This 5 minute track was originally intended for a "Space Tower" level which would evolve into the final game's Deep-Dish 9 level. It would later be used in a truncated form for the pause menu when that level's theme got replaced with Extraterrestrial Wahwahs.

Pumpin' Hot Stuff (Vs. The Noise)#

Was originally called "Pimpin' Hot Stuff" and used for the Noise boss encounter in the XMas Break Demo. The earlier version is a lot louder and has a lot of missing background instruments.

Tubular Trash Zone (Oh Shit!)#

Previously titled "Toxic Pepperoni". It's very early draft of what would eventually become Tubular Trash Zone, with different samples for all of the instruments, far simpler percussion, a slower BPM, is mostly in a different key, and has rougher mixing. The melody used in the bridge section that plays before the guitar solo at 1:05 in the final track is used directly after the intro in this version. Interestingly, Oh Shit's secret theme, "A Fecal Secret", is composed in this early iteration's key of D#m.

Don't Preheat Your Oven Because If You Do The Song Won't Play (Refrigerator-Refrigerador-Freezerator)#

Phew, that's one long track name. Anyway, this track had a fair few revisions across development.

Name

Song

Notes

Freezer draft 1b

An early draft of the song. Sounds virtually entirely different from the final, with the track going for a darker tone. This was later changed to an entirely different theme.

Dont Preheat Your Oven Because If You Do The Song Wont Play (WIP V1)

The first version to resemble the track we all know and like. The mixing on the guitar sample is different and some instruments are missing. The melody is also different at 1:16.

Don't Preheat Your Oven Because If You Do The Song Won't Play (Old)

Closer to the final version, but still differs a bit in melody and mixing. Notably, this version of the song was erroneously used in the game's launch state, which was soon patched to replace it with the final song.

There's a Bone in My Spaghetti! (Pizzascare)#

Previously titled "Cold Freakeloni". The guitar in this version is a lot louder, there's no evil laughter, and the guitar doesn't sound the same when it fades out.

Tunnely Shimbers (Don't Make A Sound)#

The biggest difference in this version of the song is that the guitar sounds more echo-y.

Receding Hairline Celebration Party (Credits)#

A song that not only had several revisions but several different purposes throughout development. An early version of the song was intended as the theme for a scrapped version of the Fake Peppino boss fight which would have him face the real Peppino in a dance battle. After that was scrapped, a revised version of the song was later intended to be the final level's theme. It was replaced in that role with Bye Bye There! for the final game.

Name

Song

Notes

I Ain't Got No Time To Dance

The version intended for the final level. It has a different name, "I Ain't Got No Time To Dance" and it is composed ever-so slightly differently from the final version used in the game's credits, such as lack of leitmotifs, as well as some voices being featured at the start of the track.

No Time 2 Boogie Woogie

The earlier version of the track meant for the Fake Peppino Dance-Off. This version uses more synthesizers and guitars, lacks the opening fade-in, and also uses violins for its composition, which have a solo of their own, too. The motifs heard in I Ain't Got No Time To Dance are also heard here.

Distasteful Anchovi (JC RE-EDIT) (Noise Escape)#

Earlier versions of the new version of Noise's Escape theme had a much longer intro. ClascyJitto shared a part of the first ever version of the re-edit on December 23, 2024, exactly one year after the release of first teaser for The Noise Update. This version probably predates the version heard in said trailer, which at that point was nearly finalized.

(Source: ClascyJitto on Twitter)

Unused Tracks#

In the final game's files#

Spaghetti (Pizzascape)#

Originally a remix of Cold Spaghetti that ClascyJitto made before joining the dev team, that was then incorporated into the game during development but later scrapped. Around 1:31, the track has less variety, repeating the same part over, and at 2:26, there's a part that was taken out. Otherwise, the track is the same as the final.

Not in the final game's files#

Pesto Anchovi (Noise Escape Draft 1)#

In old builds of the game where the Noise was playable up to the Rework Build, he used Pesto Anchovi as his escape theme. This theme is actually a remix of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 - 3rd Movement. This track was later planned to be replaced with a new track called Distasteful Anchovi, though that track was also eventually replaced with a remix titled Distasteful Anchovi (JC RE-EDIT), which is the theme used in the final game. This track was replaced due to its composer, ClascyJitto, hating it, going as far as to private or delete her uploads of it and start a running joke of it never existing.

Name

Song

Notes

Older Draft

An earlier draft of the song. In this draft, some of the Super Mario World instruments are different and it ends at 0:57, while later drafts of the track have an extra portion that extends the length to 1:12.

Final Draft

The completed version of the song before it was scrapped in favor of its replacement.

Distasteful Anchovi (Noise Escape Draft 2)#

This track was the replacement for Pesto Anchovi, Noise's previous escape theme, until this song was remixed into "Distasteful Anchovi (JC RE-EDIT)", which is The Noise's escape theme in the final game.

Name

Song

Notes

Distasteful Anchovi WIP V1

A slightly earlier version of the song, a sample of which was included in Thing of the Week 4. In this version there's less bass, the slide whistle sound that plays at 1:30 in later revisions of the song is not present in this version, and The Noise's theme plays instead of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 - 3rd Movement or the melody played in the final game's remix of the song. The way the song progresses is also different.

Distasteful Anchovi

The completed version of the song before it was scrapped in favor of its remix.

Theatrical Mischief (Ancient Cheese Part 2, SAGE 2019)#

Was originally the second section theme for Ancient Cheese, that was replaced with Put On A Show!! a few months before release. The track has less variety, the progress of the track is completely different, and the earlier version is shorter.

The Phantom Tower (Wasteyard, Eggplant)#

Intended for the first part of the scrapped Spooky Tower stage. Not much else is known about this stage besides this music track.

Spooky Apartment (Spooky Mansion Part 2)#

The second part of the scrapped Spooky Tower stage.

Freefallin'#

Song for a scrapped "Freefalling" level, details unknown.

Collapse! (Freefallin' Escape)#

An Escape Theme equivalent for Freefallin'. Early in development, every stage was meant to have a unique Escape Theme. This was scrapped when the Tower level concept was changed early on and the number of levels was increased. This therefore indicates the "Freefalling" level as being scrapped very early in development.

Hallelujah Mama-Mia (WIP)#

A theme for a scrapped "Heaven" level that re-purposes Freefallin's melody, seemingly made shortly after it was cut.

Small Fruit, 5 PM (Pizzascape Escape)#

Escape theme for Pizzascape. It was leftover unused in the Early Test Build and later used in Demo 2, but is absent in the final game.

Name

Song

Notes

escapetheme2

The unused version from the Early Test Build.

Small Fruit

The version used in Demo 2. Has slightly altered mixing.

Running With Pockets Full of Meatballs (Peppibot Factory Escape)#

Escape theme for Peppibot Factory. It was used in Demo 2, but goes unused in the final game.

Toxic Rave (Oh Shit! Escape)#

Escape theme for Oh Shit! The composition and structure seem to be closer to that of Toxic Pepperoni, as this song was likely being composed before Tubular Trash Zone was finalized.

Sandy Dealings (Early Version of Tropical Crust)#

An early version of Tropical Crust, the theme for Crust Cove. This version lacks its complex percussion, jumps straight into the main melody without the intial record scratch samples, and has a differently tuned guitar.

Delivery for the City (April 2021 City Theme)#

The theme used for the April 2021 build's City level. It has quite the contrast in tone compared to Pig City's Bite the Crust, going for a more upbeat approach.

Clown but ins ky weuidfunsidnfisjcn (Draft 1)#

A theme derived from the melody of Pizza Pie-Ing for a planned second section of a "Circus" level.

funiculario (Old Tutorial)#

An original song composed by a user named Dim Widdy. This song was used in various demos, such as the Halloween Demo and the SAGE 2019 Demo.

Dungeon Ultimatum#

A mashup of Dungeon Freakshow with Grinch's Ultimatum by PilotRedSun. Was intended for use in the level Strongcold for the XMas Break Demo but was scrapped as the dev team could not get permission from PilotRedSun to use the song.

The Tower's Ultimatum#

A custom rendition of Grinch's Ultimatum in Pizza Tower's musical style. Was also intended for use in Strongcold, and scrapped for similar reasons.

Not in the final game's files, but are bonus songs in the game's soundtrack#

Ground Bound (Mansion)#

A song that was intended for use in the equally scrapped Mansion level.

Name

Song

Notes

MansionTheme WIP

An early version that's shorter and differs in melody slightly. The Do-Re-Mi voice finishes its solo with "Suck my dick" instead of "Bring me ravioli", and at 0:51, a voice can be heard saying "Congratulations!", taken from the English dub of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Ground Bound

The completed version of the song as it appears on the soundtrack.

Spooky Apartment Escape#

As indicated by its name, it's an Escape Theme equivalent of the aforementioned Spooky Apartment and was to be the escape theme for the scrapped Spooky Tower level. It was re-purposed afterward in the SAGE 2019 demo for Snick's Challenge, where it was named SNICK IS COMING.

Leaning Nightmare#

An Escape Theme equivalent for Leaning Dream, intended for the early "Space Tower" level. This song was temporarily reused for the SAGE 2019 demo in Snick's Challenge, when the timer hits the two-minute mark.

Tarragon Pizza (Dragon's Lair)#

The main theme of the Dragon's Lair level, as heard in the Boss build.

Teeth Dust in the Strongcold#

A festive remix of Bloodsauce Dungeon's main theme, Dungeon Freakshow. This was oh-so famously used for the level Strongcold in the Peppino's Xmas Break demo.

For a Few Toppings More (Vigilante's Entrance Theme)#

This theme, being a play-on words of the spaghetti-western film For a Few Dollars More, was originally going to be the Vigilante's entrance theme, if he were to stay in the final game as a playable character. Was called "The Ecstasy of Cheese" during development.

Overcooked Meat Lover (Boss Fight Theme)#

This bass-heavy song was used as the generic boss fight theme before that honor was passed to Calzonification, then eventually each fight had their own theme, like in the final.
