This is a sub-page of Development:Pokémon Gold and Silver/Sprites/990613.

A set of sprites from an internal archive dated June 13, 1999, well into the game's transition to Game Boy Color. While these sprites represent a much later version of the games, with a lot of sprites already finalized, many Pokémon are still missing, or reuse leftover placeholder graphics from the Spaceworld '97 build. Moreover, there still only exists one set of sprites shared across both versions, instead of each one having a designated set.

Also present in this sprite bank is a series of Trainer sprites, some of which are also not present in the final game, mainly just leftovers from the Spaceworld '97 build.

Original 151#

Sprites for the original Kanto Pokemon, many of which are identical to their final sprites in Gold.

244

Entei

エンテイ

Front sprite identical to the Spaceworld '99 version, with a longer patch of chest fur. Back sprite matches the final.

245

Suicune

スイクン
Suicune

Sprites match Gold final, albeit with a different palette and some different shading here and there. This palette may have gone on to influence Suicune's Shiny palette in the Generation III games and onward, which uses a similarly all-blue palette. Suicune's Shiny in the Generation II games opts for a silvery color scheme instead.

246

.

.

Uses Cyndaquil's early front sprite and Rinrin's back sprite as placeholders. Most likely Larvitar, given its placement in the Dex and how it is assigned a green and pink palette.

247

.

ウルフマン
Urufuman

An Ice-type Pokémon which was present in Spaceworld '97. The shading on the front sprite was updated when compared to Spaceworld '97. Reuses its back sprite from Spaceworld '97. The fact that it is so far away from its evolution, Waaurufu, indicates that this is most likely just a placeholder. Indeed, this is most likely intended to be Pupitar, given its placement in the Dex and how it is assigned a grayish blue palette with purple highlights.

248

Tyranitar

バンギラス
Bangirasu

Front sprite matches Gold final, albeit with a few shading differences here and there. Uses the back sprite of Nameeru, the unused Lickitung evolution from Spaceworld '97, except with Tyranitar's palette applied.

249

Lugia

ルギア
Lugia

Front sprite identical to the Spaceworld '99 version, with less back spikes than the final. Back sprite is different, and while it has a similar pose to the final one, it is much rougher.

250

Ho-oh

ホウオウ
Ho-Oh

Sprites match Gold final.

251

.

.

Uses placeholder front and back sprites. Most likely Celebi, given its placement in the Dex and how it is assigned a green palette.
