Sound Oddity#

A proof (other than the prototypes containing the dlcs) that Studio Liverpool sold an incomplete game, all of the DLC PreRace Dialogue is left over in the final version, including in the North American one which never got the DLCs tracks!

Naming Oddity#

The Mirage Mantis is referred as the Mantis ship in the files.

Pure Leftover#

As WipEout Pulse is based on Pure, leftovers from Pure can be seen in the files, including video files and an incomplete zone ship.

Unused Gamemodes And Option#

all of the gamemodes and option documented below were usable in prototypes but not in the retail version.

Unused Gamemodes#

Multiple unused modes still exist in the game. A few actually for online.

Single player:

  • AI race
    • A mode to see AI race. Similar to the attract demo though you can choose the track and a ship to start following. Make the lap and position number disappear (similar to either if you were to add more music tracks to the game (which cause memory issues) or just a random bug that can happen). Usable in prototypes and reactivatable in the retail version via modding.

Online:

Something to note is that they cannot be selected by the host in the retail version but can be played if the player is in a room with these selected.

  • Eliminator :
    • Eliminator but online! Can be reenabled in retail. Reference to it can still be seen in a loading screen2. This online version seem to use the normal weapon pads cooldown rather than the one used in regular Eliminator event.
  • Head to Head:
    • Head to Head but online! Can be reenabled in retail.

Unused Option#

Half grid option used to exist but it's not reactivatable in retail3, the option was usable in prototype ands cut down the number of opponent from 7 to 3.

Unused Music#

Multiple frontend tracks are unused :

Frontend#

A 1 minute long mix of Analogue Bubblebath by Aphex Twin. Used in early prototypes. This track isn't in FEMusic and is instead at the root of Music folder.

Frontend 7#

This is a longer version of the GameShare (the PSP equivalent to the DS's Download Play)'s version main menu music.

Frontend 8#

Unused Music Icons#

The Booka Shades and Skream folders contains another .mip in addition to the used one:

The Booka Shade folder has a logo for the artist (the retail version use the Get Physical label's logo) while the Skream folder contains an Aphex Twin logo with PLACEHOLDER crudely written over it.
