WipEout Pulse (PlayStation 2)

WipEout Pulse is the seventh installment in the WipEout series. The PlayStation 2 version has all of the DLC from the PSP version, and, as such, is usually the preferred version. There are slight design differences in the ps2 version (like eliminator skins being coloured instead of being grey).

Uncompiled Source Code#

In the root directory of the disc, there is a padding file called PADZ2. The file has no extension and can be easily opened using a tool such as 7zip. Most of the uncompiled source code can be found in \Data\bin within that archive.

There's a native ZIP file inside \Data\bin called Sources.zip, which seems to contain source code to various tools used during the game's development.

On a sidenote, if you wondered where (or what) PADZ was, the prototype contains it and it's only:

Unused official Ape Escape skin#

Textures of an unused official ship skin can be found in the files of the game, in DATA/ships/goteki/textures. These 4 textures are ape1.pct, ape2.pct, ape3.pct and ape4.pct which is the image format used by the game. These texture exist in .tga in PAZ2.

A custom skin using these texture as a base exist on the internet though these texture doesn't work directly with shipedit (an unofficial replacement to the official tool in flash that was on wipeout.com).

Concept Ships#

Concept Ships from the psp version are also in the PS2 version, unmodified from their PSP version.
