Toy Story 3 (Wii, Windows, Mac OS X)

To do:

  • There's allot of unused content discovered for these versions, including the PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360 versions. They need to be documented at some point.
  • Perhaps document the unused voice-lines that are leftovers from the PS3/Xbox360 ports?
  • Document the unused maps.
  • Document more of the unused models, as there are allot of them.
  • Revisional Differences? There exists a Walmart-exclusive "Toybox Special Edition" on Wii, Anything new added in?

Toy Story 3 is a tie-in game based on the 2010 Pixar film. Due to the limited hardware of the Wii, this version of the game has significantly less content in the Toy Box mode than in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, and the models are lower poly with lower-quality textures. For whatever reason, the Windows port is based on the Wii version.

Unused Graphics#

Error Textures#

Three of the error textures that appear in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game exist in the Wii version, with badyellowred being removed.

Unused Models#

Bo Peep#

I'm just a few blocks down.

Bo Peep doesn't appear in the Wii/PC versions, however her model exists in the files, even being lower-poly and having her own unique textures. All of her animations also do exist, and seem to be fully finished. Bo Peep's NPC actually does load in the unused 'WT_Trendy' map, a map that can also be found in the PS3/Xbox 360 ports.

"_high" models#

To do:

  • Add images for these models besides Peas in a Pod.

In the files, there are a few models titled "(Name)_high", which are the high-poly models used for the characters in the pre-cutscenes of this version, and the main models in the console ports. The _high models exist for Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, Hamm, Slinky, Rex, Mr. Pricklepants, Peas in a Pod, Dolly, Buttercup, Trixie and the Aliens. All of the said models also exist in the console ports, though also used. They also seem to contain higher quality textures compared to the ones seen on the actual high-poly models.

crate_holographic#

Not much known about the crate, it appears it was a early version for a source of ammo in the Haunted Bakery level. The crate is located under the map and is unbreakable.

pig_kiosk#

A Dr. Porkchop themed pig kiosk, similar to the Toy Store one.

snake#

An unused snake enemy.

stretch#

A model of Stretch, who doesn't appear in the Wii version.

vulture#

An unused vulture enemy.

wheezy#

A model of Wheezy, who doesn't appear in the Wii version.

Unused Videos#

camera_ad.bik#

Toy_Story_3_Wii_Camera_ad.mp4

The camera doesn't exist in the Wii version, making this video go unused.

sportscar_ad.bik#

Toy_Story_3_Wii_sportscar_ad.bik.mp4

The Sports Car isn't bought on its own in the Wii version, and is instead automatically ridden when entering the stunt park or skate park, making this video go unused.

teeny_racer_ad.bik#

Toy_Story_3_Wii_teeny_racer_ad.bik.mp4

The Teeny Racer isn't purchasable in the Wii version, making this video go unused.

Unused Audio#

WesternTown.mix3.0#

A medley of songs heard in the Toy Box mode, with some otherwise unheard sections as well.

card_pickup2.wav#

An unused card pickup sound.

Anti-Dolphin Code#

The Wii version of the game uses methods in attempt to render the game unplayable on emulators during the time. Even though the game uses the physical memory for graphics and sound data, the rest of the game data is placed in the logical memory. A memory defragmenter is responsible to put the data back into the RAM as necessary, which relies on the memory management unit on the Wii processing the data fast enough, otherwise the game crashes. This was problematic for the Dolphin GameCube/Wii emulator at the time of the game's release, as the MEM2 component was previously too slow before the RAM gets congested. A modernized and stronger version of the anti-emulator code is also present in the Wii versions of Cars 2 and Disney Infinity.

Oddities#

"rvl"#

The text files used for the Wii version are labeled "rvl", likely standing for "Revolution", the original name of the Wii.

Andy's Basement#

Hidden Character Models#

In Andy's Basement, models for Woody, Buzz and Jessie can be found in the area where the 3 heroes fall from the vent into the basement itself. These models can be seen by utilizing a glitch to wall jump up to the top of the map (in the area with the stairs leading up). The models for them are in a permanent falling position, and seem to be old models, as Jessie's geometry and textures are different and Woody's head UV being broken. You can actually see these models in promotional material.
