Regional Differences

This is a sub-page of Street Fighter 6.

To do:

  • More regional differences to cover and document.

As is normally common of in Street Fighter 6, the game has got a few differences between regions.

In the Japanese version of the game, much of the English menu text is capitalized. This change also happened in some of Capcom's other recent games, such as Capcom Arcade Stadium and its sequel, and Capcom Fighting Collection.

Character Names#

As usual, the Street Fighter II boss characters have different names in Japanese. Though Akuma and M. Bison are currently playable, Vega and Balrog both cameo appear in the game as non-playable characters. All instances of the SiRN corporation's name don't have the "R", and are named as SiN in the Japanese version.

This applies anywhere the characters' names are seen in game, such as the character screen, song names, etc. Akuma and M. Bison's title cards in the World Tour mode also differ somewhat to accommodate this:

Fighting Ground Real-Time Commentator Names#

In the non-Asian languages, the English commentators are only used by their commentator names, except Thea "Zelina Vega" Trindad (who is known in Japanese by her first name "Thea") and Naevis.

Fighting Ground VS Screen Cutscene#

Japanese

English

During the VS Screen cutscene shown before a 1P VS. 2P one-on-one match in the Fighting Ground, the information text header that appears reads "(Number)P INFO" in Japan, and as "P(Number) Information" in English. The info text for character heights, weights, likes and dislikes are also translated to match their regional language.

Fighting Ground Results#

To do:
Could all of the other regional languages (apart from English and Japanese) be added?

Japanese

English

(Character) WIN

(Character) WINS

At the end of a one-on-one match in Fighting Ground, the UI text reads "(Character) WIN" in the Japanese version. In English, an "S" was added to the text so that it reads "(Character) WINS". Other languages have the "WINS" text translated into their own regional language for them. This change is also affected in the Announcer's voice clips.

On the Results screen in the Fighting Ground, the text for marking won/lost players reads "WIN" and "LOSE" for the Japanese version, though they were changed to "WON" and "LOST" in English.

Music Player Song Names#

A few songs in the Music Player have different names between regions.

  • Akuma and M. Bison's original themes for SF6, and all of the themes for the Street Fighter II boss characters from previous games had their names changed to reflect the characters' regional names. A similar change was also made to the Saturday Night Slam Masters and Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors tracks.
  • The Japanese kanji in the title of Alex's original vocal theme for SF6 by JAM Project was translated in the International version. This also applies to the title of Ingrid's original vocal theme for SF6 by Suzuki Mob.
  • The Japanese titles for "Over the FIGHTERS" and "The Song of the Streets" were translated in the international version.
  • As E.X. Troopers and Otoranger: Rhythm & Battle were never released outside Japan, the tracks from those games keep their Japanese soundtrack album names for the Japanese version, while their Japanese titles were translated for the International version. A similar change was done for the tracks from Fatal Fury Special, 19XX: The War Against Destiny, Ace Attorney, Rival Schools: United by Fate and Higemaru Makaijima: Nanatsu no Shima Daibouken as well.
  • All of the CAP-JAMS arranged tracks have the band's Japanese name translated for the International version.
