Character Animations

This is a sub-page of Roblox (Engine)/Revisional Differences.

With the various changes to the Roblox client over the years, the character animations were also updated and changed over time.

Earlier versions of Roblox before January 9th, 2007 have no character animations, as such they won't be documented.

Notes

Roblox Client Animations#

Animations that are found inside of the Roblox client. These animations are found under the players character model in the Animation script or under the Animation script.

Idle#

The idle animation was updated around late-2013, in which they reanimated the first part of the animation to be fluent, and added a second part of the animation which is still used today.

This animation was eventually updated again around Mid-2014 in which the first part of the animation changed completely.

The original idle animation is still used if the player flops.

Jumping#

The jumping animation was updated in 2013, which was completely reanimated, it was eventually updated again in Mid-2014.

During the June 2014 update, an earlier jumping animation was seen in earlier clients, before it was quickly updated.

Walking#

The walking animation was slightly updated in 2013 for the clients different timing of the animations, the animation was eventually reanimated and updated in Mid-2014 to be more fluent.

The walking animation for the May 20, 2014 client is currently lost and unplayable in-game, but videos of the animation in action are still available.

Emotes#

There are a ton of official Roblox emotes. A lot of these emotes also have 4 different versions or more. This is a documentation of the changes in those versions. V1 is always the very first release. Because of that these versions won't be listed here.

• Name changed from "Applaud" to "Applaud Face".
• Changed "ThumbnailVerticalOffset" from -0.003 to 0.168.
• Changed "ThumbnailKeyframe" from 24 to 31.
• Changed "ThumbnailHorizontalOffset" from -0.003 to -0.123.

• Changed "ThumbnailZoom" from 0.998 to 1.113.

• Changed "ThumbnailHorizontalOffset" from -0.123 to 0.028.
