The sequel to the original Pump It Up. While it kept very few songs from the first release, it also introduced many more tracks that are still highly recognized by fans, such as Final Audition, Com'back, and the boss song Extravaganza.

Unused Background Animations#

Careful, you'll lose an eye.

This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
Specifically: Converting the PTXes isn't exactly possible at the moment

Of the background animation files present in the folder datas\RES, one of them, YH0202.RES, is unused. Akin to the other files with the "YH" name prefix (YH0101.RES, which is used in Mobius Strip, and YH0303.RES, which is used in Extravaganza; all of which done by Chang Yonghoon), it has many abstract textures and color changing effects, though this unused one mostly focuses on a picture of several cups. The song it could have been used for is unknown.

List of Sprites#

All sprites in "Pattern" mode have their column and row parameters set to 4. Their source (Hor. Offset 0, Ver. Offset 0, Hor. Limit 256, Ver. Limit 256) and display (Hor. Offset 0, Ver. Offset 0, Width 320, Height 240) parameters are also the same, unless specified otherwise. Likewise, all but three sprites in "Tiled" mode also have the same source (Hor. Offset 0, Ver. Offset 0, Hor. Limit 256, Ver. Limit 256) and display (Hor. Offset 0, Ver. Offset 0, Width 640, Height 480) parameters, and both only call one texture.

    • YHGLAF.SPR (calls YHGLASS.PTX)

Unused Step Data#

Files FA_ez_1.stf and FA_ez_2.stf inside the folder datas\step consist of easier single and couple stepcharts for the song Final Audition. While the ID fa_ez is mentioned in the game's stage parameters file, being the only under "MODE_NAME HIDDEN", the chart itself does not appear. Despite that a condition is mentioned in a comment in the song parameter, as seen below, nothing happens when it is fulfilled.

Translated

// 싱글 2스테이지 HOT -> FA바꿀때

// Single Stage 2 HOT -> When changing FA

Below is a download for the stepfile, converted to be playable on Stepmania, along with an appended music file. While the BPM and difficulty values are taken from the game's data, the offset value is partially custom.

Unused Sound#

Of the sounds present in piu10.u9, which is part of the BIOS used by all Pump It Up games running on MK3 hardware, one became unused starting from this release, consisting of a man shouting "It's party time!", which was heard in the previous game upon starting a song. It can be found starting from offset 0x14A345, and can be listened to via the operator menu's sound test function, under the ID 22.

Unused Text#

Much like the original Pump It Up, the game's step files can have their respective song's title at their very beginning, which is not displayed in-game. However, the files that have these tags are now very few compared to the first game.
