Revealed the same day that Spike Chunsoft pulled Super Soccer off the SNES Nintendo Classics NSO app, No Sleep For Kaname Date proves you can cover up anything by pretending to be a Zero Escape game, making countless puns, and becoming a launch window title for a highly-anticipated game console.

To do:
Some misc details I don't feel like looking into.

  • What's the deal with these random photographs of cars? The angles taken suggest they're meant to be textures applied to a model. Moreover, there are leftover car meshes complete with custom bodykits that are not seen anywhere in the game.
  • Leftovers from a "Sci-fi" Unity asset pack (specifically, it's from the Unity asset creator D.F.Y. Studio's ArtStation page). A few of the screenshots feature a silhouette that bears a questionable resemblance to Tracer from Overwatch.
  • There's a debug menu just like the first two games, and some sort of "Lipsync test".
  • It's very likely there's more leftovers from nirvanA Initiative than what's currently listed.
  • Considering it's one of the factors in why this was retooled into a being a standalone game in the first place, there's probably some interesting stuff buried in the Switch 2 version. Once it becomes possible to dump games on that console.
  • The Spaceship escape room includes prototype models of two of the sumerian idol items, one of which also has prototype models for the sword and shield items.

nirvanA Initiative Leftovers#

A decent amount of evidence (the internal codename is "PsyncA" with the A likely standing for "Add-on", the title having a much smaller scope compared to the previous two games, nirvanA Initiative featuring a bonus recreation of the first room from 999 as a teaser, alongside a full menu for "DOWNLOAD CONTENTS", and [https://finalweapon.net/2025/07/11/no-sleep-for-kaname-date-from-ai-the-somnium-files-interview-kazuya-yamada-kotaro-uchikoshi/#:~:text=Development%20began%20around%20April%202023 an interview] mentioning that "development" started in April 2023, a few months before insider reports that Switch 2 dev hardware was being shipped to high-profile publishers) suggests this game was originally meant to be a downloadable Scenario for nirvanA Initiative before being retooled. As such, it's not surprising a decent chunk of content from that game is in the files:

  • Every FILE photograph from both Ryuki's (internal codename Kako) and Mizuki's (internal codename Genzai) character sections.
  • The Switch version contains a "SaveIconPs4" folder, which features the UI logos used for save files on the PlayStation 4's OS.
  • Icons for the "Eyeballie" device.
  • The icons for the aforementioned "DOWNLOAD CONTENTS" menu.

"dummy" is indeed an accurate description for this man.
