Super Soccer (SNES)

To do:
Nintendo Super System version differences

The SNES Super Soccer is the only entry in the Formation Soccer series to see a release outside of Japan, and one of the first sports games ever released on the Super Famicom/SNES. It would prove to be an invaluable launch title on the system for the football fanatics in Europe.

Unfortunately, the game is probably best known nowadays for being the first game to ever get delisted off the Nintendo Classics line of NSO applications (coincidentally removed the same day Spike Chunsoft, current owners of Human Entertainment's sport titles, revealed a new game).

Sound Test#

Press Right + Y + Select at the title screen (it might take a few tries).

In the Japanese version, the ads around the field are one for the developer Human, plus some generic "FIELD" and "NICE" billboards. The international versions changed these to decidedly more interesting ads for Nintendo, the Game Boy, and (interestingly enough) SimCity.

The positioning of the billboards is also unique between versions: the international release has the Game Boy ad exclusively on the stadium walls, while Japan has both the "NICE" and Human ads plastered on them.

Nintendo Switch Online changes#

SNES

Switch Online

The Switch Online rerelease replaces the SimCity ads with a palette-swapped version of the "FIELD" billboard included in Super Formation Soccer, very likely due to Electronic Arts owning the rights to the SimCity IP.
