Magical Girl Witch Trials

This is a gothic-style text adventure game in the vein of Danganronpa or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, featuring suspenseful mystery and deduction. Of course, beyond its so-called “hardcore deduction,” its standout features include its lesbian(yuri) themes, its musics, and IRL merchandise.

Sub-Pages#

Cut Side-View Character Illustration#

In the official game artbook, each character features their own exclusive side-profile illustration along with several pose variations for that illustration. However, these illustrations did not actually appear in the game itself.

Nevertheless, they aren't entirely cut content: they were later used in a significant number of game IRL merchandise items.

Cut Great Witch AI Helper#

In the game's initial release version (0.7.4 Beta) launched on June 9, 2025, the “Great Witch” appears in chibi form at the bottom left corner of the game menu (displayed on protagonist Sakuraba Emma's phone screen). Within the game's lore, this character is a virtual AI assistant disguised by the Great Witch. Its function is to guide players toward correct choices when they encounter gameplay roadblocks, thereby advancing the storyline.

Possibly due to its involvement in major plot spoilers, this feature was ultimately removed. The guidance role was subsequently taken over by another character, Hikami Meruru.

2 lines of text for this feature remain preserved within the game.

Notes

こんにちは。わたしはAIアシスタントです。 なにかわからないことがあったらなんでもきいてください。

Hello. I'm an AI assistant. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anything.

なやんでいますか?そんなときはわたしにきいてくださいね。【なんでも】おこたえします。

Feeling troubled? When you are, please ask me. I'll answer anything.

Cut Locations#

In the “Dead” mo version of the game, a location called “牢屋敷前”(Cell Frontyard) once existed within the prison map, but it was removed in the initial release.

location referred to as the “地下通路”(Underpass) in the “Dead”mo version was later changed to “牢房”(Cells).

Beyond that, since the release of the “Dead” mo version up until today, images of an unused “sewer” location have remained hidden within the game files.

For certain reasons, the post-game CG that appeared in the CG gallery after the 9th long game ending was removed from the initial release version.

Cut English Language#

In the “Dead”mo version of the game, an English language option once existed. However, this so-called “English” only translated the names of in-game characters, leaving the vast majority of the game's content untranslated. additionally, the English version of the game title has always been present within the official game files.

On March 27, 2026, Acacia officially announced that an English version of Magical Girl Witch Trials is coming soon.

Cut Trial Intro#

In the game's early build version (0.6.0), this beta contained only the first trial as gameplay content, yet it featured a trial entrance animation absent from all subsequent versions.

It involved rotating the camera within the trial chamber, briefly surveying all the “Witch Candidates” before locking onto Saeki Miria.

The reason for its removal was likely deemed unnecessary, as its inclusion would have made the trial process overly time-consuming and cumbersome.

Version Differences#

in the Nintendo Switch version of the game, each characters has their own unique "Debunking" character arts,in addition, the game includes a "Emma x Hiro"post-ture-ending epilogue CG fearturing fireworks and night roofs.

sure, this also includes some characters-duos-based "debunkings" combinations and some version-exclusive CGs.

it's worth noting that asignificant number of these"character-specific rebuttals"appear to have been repurposedand modified from the "Cut Side-View Character Illustration"metioned earlier.
