Bayonetta 3 Prototype Gallery UI

This is a sub-page of Bayonetta 3.

Replacing ui_title.dat with ui_title_gb.dat not only reveals an old title screen transition but it also reveals a different layout for the game's gallery!

The main gallery menu is relatively unchanged but there are still some differences to note:

  • The pen icon is a white square in the prototype.
  • The prototype UI doesn't show the number of collectibles.
  • The prototype doesn't have a transluscent gray highlight on the currently selected category.
  • The Final game's purple magic hue effect on the currently selected category is less bright and has demonic script.

Jukebox Menu#

The Jukebox menu is completely broken, while the ui is completely empty, the jukebox itself seems to be functional.

3D Models Menu#

The 3D models menu is relatively unchanged, the 2 big differences are:

  • The prototype does not load any character renders.
  • The prototype refers to the "Witches" category as just "Bayonetta"

Final Game

Prototype

The actual Ui for viewing a character's model is also different:

  • The positions of the heads up display and subject distance slider are inverted between the prototype and the final game.
  • The prototype's subject distance slider uses different icons than the final game, using an eye icon instead of a + and - accompanied by a label as seen in the final game.
  • The prototype's subject distance slider has icons for the ZL and ZR buttons, the slider is still controlled via the d-pad up and down buttons.
  • The prototype's ui is missing the arrows to cycle between models.
  • The prototype's controls hud is ever so slightly darker than the final game.

Concept Art Menu#

The concept art menu is relatively unchanged:

  • The text for the Demon Masquerade, Weapons, Demons and enemies sub menus is missing in the prototype.
  • The prototype refers to the Environments and Miscellaneous menus as "Stages" and "Props & Objects" respectively.
