This game is defunct.
Do note the game no longer works at all without modifications. This is most likely due to the game's servers being shut down (as of December 8, 2023). As a result, further official developments with the game are unlikely to happen.

This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.

To do:
Screenshots for the console releases and for the weapons.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the sequel to Battlefield: Bad Company, where the company is badder, the destruction destruction-er, and the first-ever time that Rush was released on PC.

Unfortunately, EA shut down the game's master server on 8 December 2023, alongside removal from all digital stores on 28 April 2023, effectively making the game abandonware.

Unused Weapons#

Type 5 with Rifle Grenade#

A version of the Type 5 rifle from Battlefield 1943/the prologue mission (Operation Aurora) with a rifle grenade.

Nambu#

Another Battlefield 1943 leftover weapon.

Shin Gunto sword#

A Battlefield 1943 leftover melee weapon for the IJN faction in that game.

Type 97 Grenade#

A Battlefield 1943 leftover grenade.

Unused Text#

Ascension#

The level category definitions file for the game contains a node with the name Ascension - legacy node kept from BC1, despite the original Bad Company multiplayer map "Ascension" not making an appearance in-game.

Oasis#

The presence files, used for informing multiplayer networks (Steam/Xbox Live/Playstation Network) about player status, contain a leftover reference to "Asharam Delta". This was the original in-development name for the multiplayer map "Oasis" which is playable in both Bad Company entries.

Unused Graphics#

A number of early development images can be found in the game's sprite sheets.

Early server browser#

An early screenshot of the PC server browser used during development. The multiplayer maps Dice and Sweden are obvious references to the game's developer DICE.

Early kit screen#

Early versions of the multiplayer kit selection screen. Note the various typos and image of Haggard as a placeholder for the eventual multiplayer character textures.

Early settings screen#

An early version of the Settings menu for PC. Note the presence of the banner image which does not appear in the final menu. The ability to disable telemetry was also not in the final release.

Platform Differences#

  • The PC release lacks Onslaught Mode.
  • The PC release supports up to 32 players on a server, while console releases only support 24 players.
  • The SPECACT DLC was released in 4 separate packs instead of 1 bundle on console versions.

All menus in the console releases were changed for easier navigation with a controller.
