This debug room contains three Katz NPCs with more playful dialogue than expected.
South Katz
This NPC acts as one of the game's many utility menus, this one having the following options.
Level-up#
Set the level of a specific party member (or "All of them") to level 1 to 250.
This will update levels for party members even if they are not in the player's party, but cannot be used on the unused party member entries (Noishe 0A, or the blank Rutee 0B)
Item#
Allows the player to add specific items to your inventory in the quantity they choose.
Items are shown in groups of 5, and buttons to increment by +-5 or +-100 are present to quickly navigate. This menu includes unused items, with the final page of real items being at 525-529. Using +5 past this point will crash the game, using +100 will display garbage data as items. The last item entry, GQSEAF, does not add anything to the item list when added.
Cooking#
Dummied out, instead showing a "Moved to testfield_02" message.
to Tethe'alla#
Displays the message Have a nice trip in a yellow dialogue box before teleporting the player to the Tethe'alla overworld map, immediately outside The Imperial City, Meltokio.
Vehicle#
Allows the player to select which overworld map vehicle they have access to, with the options being "Walking", "EC" (Short for Elemental Cargo, the name of the game's boat), or "Rheaird" (the game's version of an airship).
Movie#
Allows the player to select one of the game's special animated cutscenes to play, with these options to choose from. Playing a movie does not make the player leave the debug room, or set story progress.
Cutscenes |
|---|
Opening |
Prologue |
Tower of Salvation appearance |
Martel berserk |
Mana cannon appearance |
Mana cannon firing |
Tower of Salvation destruction |
The worlds become one |
Advent of Martel |
Ending |
S10 |
As most cutscenes only exist on one of the two discs, most options after "Mana cannon firing" will do nothing unless you are in this room on Disc 2. Notably, "Ending" and "Opening" play the same video. "S10" is the cutscene for the appearance of Derris-Kharlan.
Collection#
Provides the following two options, one being more peculiar than the other.
Dialogue Options |
|---|
All complete |
I want to return to my innocent days |
While seemingly being a menu to fill or clear your Collection Book (or Monster List) progress, neither option appears to do anything when selected. While this could have something to do with the Figurine Book, opening the Figurine Book crashes the game.
Event Battle#
Allows the player to choose an event encounter ID to trigger a battle with (IDs 01 to 34), followed by selecting a battle map to have the encounter in (IDs 01 to 81). Notably, the dialogue for each of these selections is unique:
Dialogue |
|
|---|---|
Selecting the encounter ID |
Kill who? |
Selecting the map ID |
Call them to where? |
The event encounter list does not contain most bosses, but does contain several scripted encounters with Desians/Renegades that occur throughout the game. The battle map IDs include some maps that are not used in the final game.
|
|
To do: |
Grade#
Allows the player to set how much GRADE currency they have, from 0 to 10000.
Exploration party return to base command#
Presumably completes any ongoing Katz expedition, with the following dialogue:
Mizushima! Let's go back to Japan together! ... [We] came back! Meow! ♥ |
"Mizushima! Let's go back to Japan together!" is a quote from the Japanese 1956 film ビルマの竪琴 (The Burmese Harp)1.
Middle Katz
This NPC allows the player to skip to different cutscene events in the main story quest. While these options do seem to set the player's current story position, not all flags are set properly and visiting previous areas might cause previous story sections to trigger out of sequence. Options in these menus are sorted by area type (Town/Dungeon/Other), and each selection is labeled with a short one-line description. Unfortunately, the "Other" section crashes the game when selected.

North Katz
When spoken to, this simple NPC changes the background color of textboxes to transparent and displays a message stating "Transparent window".
