Differences#
Magic Crafters Home#
- There are some lighting differences throughout the level, especially the Crystal Flight room, which is inexplicably lit with red lighting instead of blue lighting in this version.
- The room with the key chest is lit much more warmly in the final.
- One of the opening rooms uses grey wall textures and blue lighting instead of red wall textures and yellow lighting.
- The lit up supercharge track texture is much less vibrant here.
- Each dragon's cutscene has louder background music than it would in the final.
- Cosmos has slightly different dialogue lines and has a bit of a different vocal performance, but his animation is largely similar to final. The cutscene ends with an extra bit where the camera cuts to Spyro and he says "no problem".
- Zantor's cutscene has very similar vocal performances to the final, but instead of calling it a "supercharge", both Spyro and Zantor refer to it as "superdash".
- Boldar has a different vocal performance and some different dialogue. Spyro says "okay, okay already" instead of "learn to fly, got it".
- The staff-wielding druids use a different death sound effect.
- The level does not yet support using the balloonist to hop to different worlds with unclaimed dragon eggs in them.
Alpine Cliffs (Alpine Ridge)#
- In this build, the level is called "Alpine Cliffs" instead of "Alpine Ridge".
- Most dragons in this level are missing their cutscenes, instead using text dialogue. The dragon by the exit vortex has no dialogue or cutscene though, and instantly disappears upon collection - despite having text dialogue in the June 15th build. In the later July 18th build, it has a cutscene.
- There's a green gem floating in the vortex, a cut feature that has been removed from most levels at this stage.
High Caves#
- All dragons are missing their cutscenes, instead using text dialogue.
- A handful of flags are placed around the level, which don't appear in the final game.
- The dragon next to the exit vortex is in a different position.
Wizard Peak#
- All dragons are missing their cutscenes, instead using text dialogue.
- Spyro does the wrong entrance animation and bonks against the wall in front of him instead of gracefully landing on the floor below.
- Jarvis is facing the opposite direction to where he would face in the final. Presumably this was changed so that the statue would appear to face Spyro when the cutscene starts (with the supercharge track behind the freed dragon).
- There's a yellow gem floating in the vortex, a cut feature that has been removed from most levels at this stage.
Boss (Blowhard)#
- The dragon is missing its cutscene, instead using text dialogue. It's also placed outside on the bridge you reach after traversing the cave, rather than inside the cave.
- There are extra doors in the cave which only open when all of the enemies leading up to that point have been defeated. The cave also includes an extra druid and a couple extra platforms. The room with the dragon in the middle of the cave is absent, replaced with only an archway and a door.
Flying (Crystal Flight)#
- The time-running-out sounds play constantly in this level, rather than only when you're below 10 seconds remaining. This isn't the case for all flight levels in this build, perhaps due to missing sound effects in the later ones.
- The timer starts at 20 seconds instead of 25.
