Inkopolis News Stage Dialogue#

Inside TalkNewsStage.msbt are early localizations of the Inkopolis News stage introductions. Much of them are identical to the Testfire Demo. They seem closer to the original Japanese text.

The Reef#

Prototype	Launch
Pearl: Wooah! The Reef, at night! The shops are already closed!!	Pearl: The Reef at night is so beautiful. And all the shops are closed!
Marina: Well then, don't hold anything back; let's ink the town red!	Marina: LET'S INK THE TOWN RED!
Pearl: The pigeons always look like they're ready to throw down!	Pearl: The pigeons here are really aggressive!
Marina: Really? The moment they see me, they try to climb onto my head...	Marina: They always try to bite my hair...
Pearl: Look! Look! I'm Marina!	Pearl: Look at me! I'm Marina! BLAH BLAH BLAH!
Marina: Ahaha! That's perfect!	Marina: Ahaha! Yeah, that's so me!

Marina: But Pearl, we've already made plans to play video games together on our next day off!	Marina: I would, but this new game comes out this weekend, and I'm DYING to play it.

Pearl: It's a lot of fun to splat around with Dualies here! I wonder if they'll make a model that lets you splat forever!	Pearl: I LOOOOVE using dualies here. I just dodge-roll nonstop!
Marina: You smile ear to ear when you're rolling around.	Marina: I noticed. You might want to think about playing the objective once in a while...

Marina: I'll never forget the look in Li'l Judd's eyes as he watched that from the top...	Marina: No, but I've seen Li'l Judd try. He's so adorable!

Marina: The beat is pretty different, too.	Marina: Plus I get to spin Splatfest jams!
Pearl: Looking at this stage gets me super excited!!	Pearl: Standing on the stage brings back so many good memories.
Marina: It really reminds you of outdoor concerts, doesn't it?	Marina: I'll never forget the first time we performed here!
Pearl: I want to give a shout out to the staff at the Starfish. You guys are the best!	Pearl: Big shout-out to the staff at the Starfish. Y'all are the best!
Marina: Pearl! The news! Read the news!!	Marina: Pearl! Stop giving shout-outs and read the news!
Pearl: Whenever I battle here, I get splatted right away...	Pearl: Whenever I battle here, I get cooked right away by some random chump.
Marina: That's because you are always standing by the mic, Pearl...	Marina: That's because your strategy is to rush to the stage and look fresh...

Marina: Pearl... that effect pedal...! That's the latest model from Scallop Electronica!	Marina: And the bass guitar is a custom Octoslapper QX-2! drool

Humpback Pump Track#

In one line, Pearl mispronounces an early name for Humpback Pump Track. It was likely "Kombu Race Track", given that its Japanese name is "Kombu Track".

Pearl: The acoustics here are out of this world! Makes it super easy to sing here! Woo ♪	Pearl: The acoustics here are the bomb! My voice sounds amazing here!
Marina: Oof... Pearl, you're really getting into it, which makes it really hard for me to dial in the audio settings!	Marina: Yeah, the reverb makes it easier to ignore how off-key we are!
Pearl: I bet it feels awesome to ride around here on a motorcycle!	Pearl: Man, I wanna ride around here on a motorcycle!

Inkblot Art Academy#

Pearl refers to the stage as "Brightsea Art Academy".

Pearl: Marina! Marina! The eyes of the statues glow at night. I saw it!	Pearl: Marina! Marina! The statues' eyes glow at night! I SWEAR I SAW THEM GLOW!
Marina: Those are Judd and Li'l Judd's eyes...	Marina: Preeeeeetty sure those are just Judd's and Li'l Judd's eyes...
Pearl: We had a really awesome show when we performed at this school's festival!	Pearl: Remember when we performed at this school's music festival?
Marina: That show was really intense! You shattered a stone statue with your vocals...	Marina: How could I forget? You started a mosh pit and broke a bunch of sculptures...
Pearl: Brightsea Art Academy... That's a real mouthful! Marina, hit me with an abbreviation!	Pearl: This place brings back bad memories of my school days...

Marina: Fluffy creatures are pretty rare, so he gets a lot of modeling gigs!	Marina: He was posing for an online drawing class. Not sure I want to see the result.
Pearl: You know how when you're rolling around with the Dualies, you hit your forehead on the glass?	Pearl: Have you ever accidentally splatted yourself while rolling with the dualies?
Marina: I can't say as I do...	Marina: Can't say that I have...
Pearl: I wish the cafeteria here would serve the food from Crusty Sean's restaurant!	Pearl: I wish Crusty Sean ran the cafeteria here...
Marina: I love the waffles from Crusty Sean's! They're deep fried and so fluffy!	Marina: YES! Crusty Sean makes the best deep-fried waffle monstrosity!
Pearl: The key to winning here is how you use the center of the stage. Yup!	Pearl: The key to winning here is using the center of the stage effectively.
Marina: You also need to be careful on the routes on either side. Uh-huh.	Marina: Why is it always the center with you? The side routes are way more important.
Pearl: Hey everybody! Every once in a while you need to pull your nose out of your books and splat it up in battles!	Pearl: We're about to turn this campus into a canvas!
Marina: Are you saying to turn the campus into a canvas?! Pearl, you're so deep...!	Marina: Does art imitate life? Or does life imitate art? AM I EVEN REAL?!

Sturgeon Shipyard#

Marina: Pearl! Don't burst into song so suddenly... it's dangerous!	Marina: Pearl! Save it for our next concert!

Marina: Pearl, you really do love high places.	Marina: Never change, Pearl...
Pearl: So Marina, what exactly are shipyards for?	Pearl: I dare you to jump off of the pier, Marina!
Marina: People come here to listen to the sound of machine motors... right?	Marina: Nah, I don't give in to pier pressure.
Pearl: They call this a shipyard, but where the heck are the ships?	Same as prototype
Marina: Pearl, this whole stage itself is a ship that's in the process of being built!	Marina: Pearl, this entire stage is a ship that's being built!
Pearl: Fire a volley of Tenta Missles at the end of the battle! Marina... give it a name!	Pearl: What do you call it when you shoot off Tenta Missiles at the end of a match?
Marina: Hold me close ☆Twinkling Star!	Marina: DISMISSIVE DISS MISSILE!
Pearl: Hey, Marina! Ya know, I never ever get sea sick!	Pearl: Good thing I never get seasick playing on this stage!
Marina: I'm so... jealous!	Marina: Urp...
Pearl: Marina, I bet you get all pumped up when you come here, huh?	Pearl: Marina, I bet you think this stage is amazing, huh?
Marina: Oh my, the construction machinery... So beautiful, I'm spellbound...	Marina: YEAH! It's one of my favorites!
Pearl: So hey, that track you made me listen to the other day; did you sample the motors here?!	Pearl: Yo, that track you made the other day. Did you sample the boat motors here?!
Marina: Tehehe... So, Pearl, you've finally realized the beauty of heavy machinery?	Marina: You noticed!

Moray Towers#

Pearl: The scenery of Moray Towers at night is just the best!	Pearl: There's something magical about Moray Towers at night.
Marina: Pearl, if you don't stop staring at the nighttime scenery, the Splatfest is going to be over before you know it!	Marina: You know what else is magical? Ketchup ice cream!
Pearl: This stage has me written all over it!	Pearl: This is one of my favorite stages! So much verticality!
Marina: Pearl, you never come down to ground level, even during battles. You have to do something about that!	Marina: That's not an excuse to just camp at the top, Pearlie!
Pearl: Marina, do you know what the key to success here is?	Pearl: Wanna know the key to winning here? Make sure Marina is on the other team.
Marina: "Get them before they get you"!	Marina: Har har.
Pearl: But ya know, for a parking garage, ya don't see many cars coming through.	Pearl: For a parking garage, there aren't a lot of cars driving around.
Marina: There's plenty of space to park, so it looks like the floor below is sufficient.	Marina: Well, yeah. It's a PARKING garage, not a driving garage.
Pearl: Dive bomb from up above, and BOOM! The Shining SPLAT!	Pearl: She dives down from above... BOOM! It's a SPLATASTROPHE! Pearl wins!
Marina: You don't have to make up a term for everything, Pearl...	Marina: If only your skills were as strong as your imagination...
Pearl: Use the Inkrails to push your way into your opponent's base!	Pearl: Use the Inkrails to push your way into the opponent's base!
Marina: And be sure to splat down the enemies that climb up at you.	Marina: And be sure to cook any scrubs that come up after you!
Pearl: Oh, a car from Crusty Sean's is going by. Heeeey, Seaaaan!	Pearl: I saw the Crust Bucket drive by here the other day...
Marina: Pearl, are you hungry all of a sudden, too?	Marina: I wonder if Crusty Sean does catering? His food is the licious.
Pearl: Come to think of it, do you think there's any relation between Judd and Li'l Judd?	Pearl: Hey, how do you think Li'l Judd is related to Judd? Are they brothers?
Marina: Oh my gosh, do you think they're clones?! Nah, couldn't be!	Marina: My head-canon is that Li'l Judd is a time-traveling Judd from the past.

Port Mackerel#

Pearl: Yo, Marina, take it down a notch!	Pearl: Yo, Marina, bring it down a notch.
Marina: Aahh!! The port is so lovely at night! The combination of the nighttime scenery and the engine sounds... I can't get enough!	Marina: AAAAAHH! I just LOVE the low rumble of the boat engines here. Especially at night!
Pearl: In this stage, use those paths on the side and splat 'em good with the Dualies! pew pew pew!!	Pearl: I like to zoom up the side paths here with the dualies and lay the splat down!
Marina: If you're using the Brella, use the vertical path and shwip! Boom-bam!	Marina: With a brella, you can dive straight up the center path with ease!
Pearl: So, "port"... that's, uh, one of those things you stick your cables into, right?	Pearl: I always have to carry my team on my back on this stage.
Marina: Ah, I expect nothing less from the legendary airhead!	Marina: I totally believe you!
Pearl: I think it's going to come down to who makes the most use of the sponges!	Pearl: I think it's gonna come down to who uses the sponges best.
Marina: I wonder if them getting bigger and smaller gets in the way of work for people...?	Marina: Uses the...sponges? But one of my best friends is a sea sponge!
Pearl: Marina! Hit us with the trick to using sponges effectively!	Same as prototype
Marina: It's best to build up a good lather before you start washing!	Marina: I like to build up a good lather and then scrub like crazy!
Pearl: So, "port"... that's, uh, another name for sausage, right?	Pearl: So, "port." That's just a fancy name for sausage, right?
Marina: Pearl, I think you're thinking of "pork"...?	Marina: Pearl, I think you're thinking of "pork."
Pearl: Marina! What's the advantage of using Brellas in this stage?	Pearl: Marina! What's the appeal of using a brella on this stage?
Marina: Why, protecting you at all costs, of course!	Marina: Protecting my precious Pearlie at all costs!
Pearl: Boy, the smell of the salty breeze makes me feel so chill!	Pearl: Ahhhhhhh! I just love the smell of the salty sea air!
Marina: Pearl, since when are you chill?	Marina: And I love the salty smell of my enemies' tears!
