This is a sub-page of Proto:Splatoon 2/March 28, 2017.

Music#

Much of the soundtrack in the base game is pretty much finalized, except there are more than just a few differences.

All the songs from the first Splatoon game (besides the returning ones) are there as duplicates but the rest will not be included.

Removed Music#

Filename

Track

Notes

BGM_coop_Main00

Likely an early track for the Salmon Run Lobby screen, judging from the naming scheme that follows other Salmon Run related tracks (coop = Salmon Run).

BGMCoopStanbyTest

Same as above except for interludes, like the results screen.

LP_Sample_MultiStrm

Likely a test for multi-stream dynamic music. The file contains 6 tracks (3 stereo tracks) for piano, strings and percussion

LP_Sample_MultiStrm2mix

A 2-track stereo mix of LP_Sample_MultiStrm

STRM_amano01

A completely removed rock song that is likely placeholder audio. Filename likely refers to Yusuke Amano

Plaza_n

An 8-bit rendition of Chirpy Chips' song Shellfie, which was likely meant to be played outside of The Shoal. The final version uses a completely different song.

STRM_Versus06

A completely scrapped Multiplayer battle theme, featuring the vocals of Squid Squad, with Quinn as the lead vocal (in other songs like Ink or Sink and Metalopod). Prior to this full song being found, it was used briefly in the CoroCoro Emperor Gear trailer.

Changed Music#

Much of the songs are in a near-final state except with some interesting differences. The most notable is that the new vocal tracks by Off The Hook and the Squid Sisters have not yet been implemented as of that build.

Notes

STRM_PlayerMake

Fest Zest

xxx

Placeholder vocals.

Plaza00_c_VS

Inkopolis Square Speakers (Tower)

xxx

Less echo. This is overwritten with the battle tower theme from the first game.

Plaza_o_Arp

Inkopolis Square Speakers A

xxx

Different volume and mixing.

Plaza_q_Rob

Inkopolis Square Speakers B

xxx

Shrimp Kicks' version of Lookin' Fresh, taken straight from Splatoon except with a radio filter applied than a unique rendition of the theme itself in the final.

Plaza_r_coop

Inkopolis Square Speakers C

xxx

Early audio is a filtered version of Happy Little Workers, than a unique arrangement.

Plaze00_e

Inkopolis Square Speakers J

xxx

Played with a guitar instrument than an off-key honkytonk-sounding one, lacks the breaks between the vocals also. According to the filename scheme, this is sandwiched in between the unused leftover Inkopolis Plaza themes (Plaza00_a-d and Plaza00_f-m)

Multiplayer#

The songs from the Testfire Demo are identical to this build and will not be covered here.

Final

Notes

STRM_Versus04

Don't Slip

xxx

Less guitar chords, also the vocals are less focused, autotuned-sounding and have different lyrics. The synths near the end of the song are also unrefined.

STRM_Versus05

Endolphin Surge

xxx

Missing the male vocals at the beginning, except for the loop point which also sound different. The lead electric guitar would be removed in the final.

Salmon Run#

Notes

Coop_Env

Salmon Run Opening

xxx

Slightly longer than the final and even more distorted-sounding.

STRM_CoopMain

Deluge Dirge

xxx

Uses a placeholder cello instrument instead of a live one, otherwise it's instrumentally the same.

STRM_CoopEvent

Fishing Frenzy

xxx

Also uses a placeholder cello instrument and lacks the additional timpani beats from 0:18.

Splatfest#

Final

Notes

STRM_Plaza_Fes_Combined

Inkopolis News (Splatfest, Off The Hook)

xxx

Different synth backing.

STRM_Plaza_Fes

Color Pulse

xxx

Almost the same as final except with missing synths at 1:16-1:20 and 1:31-1:36. Uses placeholder vocals from Wet Floor's vocalists and a choir voice instrument, also the backing chorus part before the last verse lacks the Color Pulse leitmotif.

STRM_VersusFes01

Ebb & Flow

xxx

Near identical to the final except for quieter synth instruments. Uses placeholder vocals from Wet Floor's vocalists and a choir voice instrument.

STRM_VersusFes02

Acid Hues

xxx

Different synth backing, sounds more barebones overall. Uses placeholder vocals from Wet Floor's vocalists and a choir voice instrument.

STRM_VersusFes03

Muck Warfare

xxx

Near identical to the final except for different mixing. Uses placeholder vocals from choir voice instruments.

Octo Canyon#

This page or section needs more audio.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough audio. Please fix this.
Specifically: Extract the original songs (without enemy spotted percussion) as well, for more in-depth comparison.

Notes

STRM_Mission01_Blitz_Bossa

The Girl from Inkopolis

xxx

Different mixing.

STRM_Mission04_Blitz_Spacy

Shooting Starfish

xxx

Slightly different mixing. Louder vocal samples at 0:27 and 1:16.

STRM LastBoss1

Bomb Rush Blush (DJ Octavio feat. Callie)

xxx

Different mixing.

STRM LastBoss2

Tidal Rush

xxx

Different mixing.

STRM_Shiokara2017

Spicy Calamari Inkantation

xxx

Instrumentally the same, though it lacks the build-up at the beginning. Also, it reuses vocals from Calamari Inkantation.

  • Strangely, the internal names for the Inkopolis Square themes come after the Inkopolis Plaza themes.
